Abbiatico & Salvinelli
.410 Bore Sidelock Over/
Under Shotgun with Case - Serial no. 594, 410 gauge, 26 7/8 inch
vent rib bbl., blue/brushed bright finish, walnut stock. In 1967 Mario
Abbiatico and Remo Salvinelli founded Fabbrica Armi di Mario
Abbiatico e Remo Salvinelli, more commonly known as FAMARS.
Since the beginning the two have been innovators and have made a
name for themselves creating some of the finest bespoke guns ever built. Built with
blued steel bifurcated lump barrels featuring a single nickel bead sight on the matted flat vent rib, some light line engraving at the breech, gold inlaid “ABBIATICO
& SALVINELLI” signature on the left of the upper tube, 1983 dated Italian proof marks on the flat, and 3 inch chambers with individual extractors. The barrels are
fitted to the brushed bright finished scaled Woodward type sidelock action which displays extensive embellishment consisting of near full coverage relief carved
Italian ornamental scroll engraving over a matted background creating deep contrast all surrounding a trio of beautifully detailed game scenes. The left scene
shows a pointer flushing a pair of grouse in a forested scene, the underside shows a single woodcock, and the right shows a flushed covey of quail with a farm house
in the background. The markings on the left frame rail beneath the barrel wing are also inlaid in fine gold as well as a gold “7” under the toplever. The triggerplate is
signed “ORNATO SABATTI G. INC” for Italian Master Engraver Gian Marco Sabatti along with the signature of Master Engraver Angelo Galeazzi on the right lockplate. The
gun features a single trigger and a tang mounted manual safety with gold inlaid “S” indicator. The gun is fitted with a beautifully figured and multi-point checkered forend with
matching engraved iron with “ABBIATICO/&/SALVINELLI” in gold and a sliding
release integrated into a crest as well as a straight grip stock with diamond
shaped hand, teardrop carved drop points and a checkered bare butt. Includes
a leather flat case with canvas cover containing a set of extra firing pins. Barrel
and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech
proofed and measured at 10.3 mm (.406 inches); choke constriction .007/.010
