Factory Mauro Dassa Signed and Master Engraved Abbiatico & Salvinelli Quattro Cannone (Four Barrel) Shotgun
with Case - Serial no. 641, 410 gauge, 27 5/8 inch cluster bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. In 1967 Mario Abbiatico and
Remo Salvinelli founded Fabbrica Armi di Mario Abbiatico e Remo Salvinelli, now more commonly know as FAMARS. From the
beginning the two were innovators and made a name for themselves creating some of the finest bespoke guns ever built, with
this outstanding four barrel sub-gauge gun being an excellent example of their quality and innovation. The pair are known as
much for their technical ability as for the aesthetics of their guns.
Built with a cluster of four blued steel barrels featuring a single brass bead sight on the smooth concave solid rib, “Abbiatico &
Salvinelli” signed on the upper left tube, single band of light engraving at the breech, 1989 (“AU”) dated Italian proof marks, a
small bouquet on the underside of the blued front lug, and 3 inch chambers with a single extractor.
The barrels are fitted to the highly advanced coin finished action which functions as both a hammer fired action as
well as a hammerless action all from one single trigger. With the hammers cocked, the single trigger drops the right
then left firing the upper two barrels, two subsequent pulls of the trigger then activate the internal hammers firing
the lower right and lower left barrels. The upper barrels can also be “skipped” if one does not have time to cock the
hammers and the lower two barrels can be discharged first with the hammers then cocked for follow up shots. The
action itself displays extensive near full coverage classic English style bouquet and scroll engraving which extends
to the fences, hammers, toplever, trigger guard, and both tangs. The engraving was carried out by Italian Master
Engraver Mauro Dassa who has signed his work “M. Dassa” on the triggerplate to the right of the trigger guard. The
gun features rebounding hammers, a right hand rolled trigger guard, and a tang mounted manual safety.
The gun is fitted with a beautifully figured and multi-point checkered semi-beavertail forend with engraved coin
finish iron and an Anson button release. The straight grip stock has a diamond shaped hand and is of the same
gorgeous figure and features matching checkering, at the wrist, teardrop carved drop points, and a black rubber
Pachmayr Presentation recoil pad.
Includes a maker’s leather flat case containing the proofing certificate and four nickel plated snap caps.
