Rare Marlin-Rockwell Model 40 Slide Action Rifle -
Serial no. 17976, 25-20 M cal., 24 inch octagon bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured during the short period of the Marlin-Rockwell Corporation, the Model 40 was the company’s attempt at reintroducing the sporting models made by Marlin before World War I. The Model 40 in itself is merely a redesignated Model 27. The rifle
features blade front and elevation adjustable rear sights on the octagon barrel, Marlin-Rockwell address on the top flat of the barrel and “Special Smokeless Steel” marking and caliber marking near the receiver. The upper tang is marked “Marlin/MOD. 40” with the serial number marked on
the side below the wood. The buttstock is marked in the upper tang inlet with the serial number as well as the buttplate. Below the buttplate serial number is “16765” which has been crossed out with a series of “1”s.
CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 90% original blue finish with slide retraction marks, scattered handling marks, and a few minor spots of thinning to brown. Wood
is fine with traces of original varnish and scattered light dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: The Milan J. Turk Collection.
Estimate: 3,000 - 5,000 LOT 3491 Exceptional Marlin Model 27 Slide Action Rifle - Serial no. NVSN, 25-20 M cal., 24 inch octagon bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured from 1910-1911. Blade front and adjustable rear sights, with two line address/patent date marking ahead of rear sight, “25-20 M” at the breech, and “SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL” on the upper left flat. Receiver tapped for sight mounting, with model marking on upper tang, grooved forearm and smooth straight grip stock with crescent buttplate. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 95% plus original bright blue finish with a few minor handling marks, a few small spots of surface oxidation on the left side of the receiver. Wood is fine with scattered dings and dents, some green paint residue on the bottom, and a barely noticeable hairline crack lightly visible on the left of the wrist. Mechanically excellent. LOT 3492 Rare Marlin Model 47 Slide Action Rifle - Serial no. 230, 22 S L LR cal., 22 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. One of only 3,900 manufactured. These rifles were an incentive for stockholders to buy four shares at $100 a piece. It features beaded blade front sight with elevation adjustable rear, standard Marlin markings, and a checkered forearm and stock.
CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 90% plus original blue finish and 85% plus original case colors with scattered handling marks and
slide retraction marks. Wood is fine with scattered dings and scratches and softened checkering on the forearm. Mechanically excellent.

LOT 3493 Marlin Model 37 Slide Action Rifle - Serial no. 1658, 22 S L LR cal., 24 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured 1913-1916. Features beaded blade front and elevation adjustable rear sights, standard barrel legend on top of the barrel and caliber marked on the left side at the chamber, top tang marked “Marlin/MOD. 37” and with the Marlin star inspector mark, serial number on the lower tang, ribbed slide grip and straight grip stock. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 95% original blue finish with limited handling marks and slide retraction marks. Wood is very fine with most of the original varnish, a few handling marks, and a hairline crack coming off the upper tang. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: The Milan J. Turk Collection. Estimate: 950 - 1,600 LOT 3494 Rare Marlin Model 47 Slide Action Rifle - Serial no. 2840, 22 S L LR cal., 22 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. One of only 3,900 manufactured. These rifles were an incentive for stockholders to buy four shares at $100 a piece. It features beaded blade front sight with elevation adjustable rear, standard Marlin markings, and a checkered forearm and stock. CONDITION: Fine, retaining 60% original blue finish on the barrel and magazine with a thinning to brown on the balance. Receiver retains 50% original case colors with a smooth brown and gray patina on the balance as well as a few minor dings. Wood is very good with evidence of sanding, remnants of checkering on the wrist and forearm, and dings and scratches. Mechanically fine. Provenance: The Milan J. Turk Collection. Estimate: 1,000 - 1,600 LOT 3495 Marlin Model 37 Slide Action Rifle - Serial no. 9301, 22 S L LR cal., 24 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured 1913-1916. Features beaded blade front and elevation adjustable rear sights, standard barrel legend on top of the barrel and caliber marked on the left side at the chamber, top tang marked “Marlin/MOD. 37” and with the Marlin star inspector mark, serial number on the lower tang, ribbed slide grip and straight grip stock. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 90% original blue finish with scattered handling marks and slide retraction marks. Forend is very good with most of the varnish remaining and scattered dings and scratches. Stock is fine with a crack coming off the top tang, a hairline crack coming off the bottom tang, crazing in the varnish, and dings and scratches. Mechanically fine. Provenance: The Milan J. Turk Collection. Estimate: 950 - 1,600 LOT 3496 Marlin Model 27 Slide Action Rifle - NSN, 32-20 cal., 24 inch octagon bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured from 1909-1932. Blade front and adjustable rear sights, with two line address/patent date marking ahead of rear sight, “32-20” at the breech, and “SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL” on the upper left flat. Receiver tapped for sight mounting, with model marking on upper tang, grooved forearm and smooth straight grip stock with crescent buttplate. CONDITION: Very good, retaining 30% original blue finish with thinning to a brown and gray patina on the balance with handling marks, scattered spotting and a few scratches. Stock is very good with handling marks, scattered dings and scratches, and some touch up varnish on the left side. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: The Milan J. Turk Collection.
