Factory Engraved Westley Richards Single Barrel Hammerless Trap Shotgun - Serial no. 5882, 12 gauge, 32 inch vent rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Blued steel barrel with dual white bead sights on the matted vent rib, “WESTLEY RICHARDS & Co. LONDON” marked on the left side, four separate wedges of floral scroll engraving emanating from the breech, Birmingham proofs dating to between 1904 and 1925, and 2 3/4 inch chamber with extractor. The casehardened boxlock action displays beautiful floral scroll engraving, matching the barrel wedges, and “WESTLEY RICHARDS & Co.” banners on either side. The engraving extends to the trigger guard, toplever, and both the upper and lower tangs. Nicely figured, multi-
point checkered Schnabel tip forend with engraved fittings, including the Deeley latch release, and pistol grip stock with contrasting grip cap and red rubber recoil pad. Per the consignor, this gun was restored by the renowned Turnbull Restoration Company. Barrel and stock measurements: bore diameter nine inches from the breech proved at “13/1” (.719 inches) and measured at .737 inches; choke constriction .048 inches; minimum
wall thickness .048 inches; 1 3/8 inch drop at comb; 2 inch drop at heel; 14 9/16 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs 13 oz. CONDITION: Very fine as professionally restored by Turnbull Restorations, retaining 99% blue and casehardened finishes, minor wear around the metal to wood junctions, minor handling evidence, and crisp checkering on the stock and forend. LOT 307 Fine J. Burrow 10 Bore Double Barrel Rotary Underlever Hammer Shotgun - Serial no. 7034, 10 bore gauge, 32 inch solid rib bbl., browned/casehardened/blued finish, walnut stock. Manufactured c. 1896 with browned Damascus barrels with a concave rib with bead sight and signed “J. BURROW. PRESTON”. The border engraved casehardened rounded action has percussion fences, rebounding backaction locks each signed “J. BURROW”, and a blued trigger guard. The figured walnut semi-pistol grip stock has a grooved dark horn buttplate, checkered grip and forearm, and dark horn forend tip. It has original Birmingham nitro proof marks. Stock measurements: 1 3/8 inch drop at comb; 1 3/4 inch drop at heel; 14 3/4 inch length of pull; weight 10 lbs. CONDITION: Very good. The barrels retain 90% older rebrowned finish and a clear rib signature. The action and locks each have 80% strong original casehardened finish. The trigger guard retains traces of original blued finish. The stock is good and has numerous scattered age related storage and handling marks and bruises and generally well-defined checkering. Figured 13 1/2 inch semi-pistol grip stock with raised cheekpiece, dark horn pistol grip cap and grooved heel plate, and checkered panels to the grip and forearm. The underside of the butt with blank oval initial escutcheon and blued sling mount, the corresponding sling mount fitted
beneath the barrels. Original Austrian proof marks, London 2019 nitro reproof marks and an import mark on the lower barrel beneath the forearm.
CONDITION: Good. The barrels retaining 90% original blued finish with clear engraving and sharp engraved matted pattern to the rib. Action and locks retaining 80% original casehardened finish, tip of the right hand hammer spur with old chip. Set trigger mechanism at fault. Stock with well defined checkering, numerous scattered age related storage and handling marks and blemishes. Mechanically very good. Estimate: 1,000 - 1,500

Fine Engraved Westley Richards .297/.250 Single Barrel Toplever
Hammerless Rook Rifle with Case - Serial no. 4202, 250 cal., 27 inch
octagon bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. This classic British rook rifle utilizes the
famous Anson & Deeley patent boxlock action and, according to Colin Greenwood in “The Classic
British Rook & Rabbit Rifle” (p. 156), was made in house by Westley Richards and was only available
in Best Quality. The cost in 1909 is noted as 12 guineas. The blued octagonal barrel is respectively
signed “WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO. LONDON” and “FOR .250 CARTRIDGE” on the left upper flat
towards the breech and has a full length matted upper flat fitted with blued bead front sight and
blued rear sight of one standing notch sight and two folding leaves, each with platinum inlaid
center line and graduated to 150 yards, and has an automatic ejector. The casehardened scallop-back action is signed “WESTLEY RICHARDS” within a ribbon on each side and has an automatic safety
with inlaid “SAFE”, blued toplever and blued floorplate. The furniture comprises a blued trigger guard and casehardened pistol grip cap. The rifle has classic English border and scroll engraving. The underside of the barrels and water table struck with Birmingham single definitive proof mark, and an import mark is on the bottom flat under the forearm. The well-figured walnut semi-pistol grip stock has a grooved bare butt, a checkered grip and forearm, dark horn forend cap, and blank silver oval initial escutcheon. It comes in a fitted canvas and leather takedown case lined in green baize with a printed Westley Richards trade label. Length of pull 14 1/2 inches.
CONDITION: Fine. The barrel retains 95% older reblued finish with clear engraved details and some minor rubbing to the finish on the muzzle and edges, muzzle re-crowned. The action retains 60% fairly strong original casehardened finish. The floorplate and toplever retain 75% original blued finish. The trigger guard has 40% original blued finish, and the pistol grip cap has 30% faded original casehardened finish. The engraving is clear throughout. The stock has attractive figure patterns, well-defined checkering, numerous scattered age related storage and handling marks and bruises, and a small hole from a knot near the front of the comb on the left. Mechanically excellent. The case is good and has replacement straps and handle.

LOT 308 Engraved Joh. Kalezky Over-And-Under Top-Lever Hammer Combination Gun - Serial no. 5545.25., 16 / 8x57 gauge, 25 5/8 inch bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. This Austrian combination gun was made by the well-respected Viennese gunmaker Kalezky who is known to have made guns for the Austro-Hungarian imperial family. With blued “Bohler Blitz Stahl” barrels constructed with the smoothbore shotgun barrel above the rifled barrel and with single extractor. The upper barrel has a full length raised matted sighting rib with bead front sight, rear sight of two folding leaves and signature panel engraved “JOH. KALEZKY”, the remainder of the signature panel
