Exceptional Deluxe Cased L.D. Nimschke Engraved Smith & Wesson Number 1 1/2 2nd Issue Revolver with Pearl Grips - Serial no. 103329, 32 RF cal., 3 1/2 inch solid rib bbl., nickel finish, pearl grips. This model was manufactured from 1868 to 1875. The revolver is decorated with wonderful near full coverage engraving by renowned Master Engraver L.D. Nimschke. The embellishment features scrollwork on a punch dot background, star bursts, zig-zag and wavy line borders, and entwining lines. Similar scroll patterns appear as smoke pulls in “L.D. Nimschke: Firearms Engraver” by Wilson on pages 42 and 95. The barrel rib has the one-line address/patent marking, and matching assembly marks are on the grip frame,
barrel and cylinder. The desirable period correct deluxe gold line case contains a cleaning rod, a case key, and a box of UMC .32 caliber Short No. 2 cartridges with an orange label featuring an illustration of a Number 1 1/2 Revolver. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 98% plus original nickel plating. The engraving is crisp. The grips are also excellent with attractive fiery colors. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine with minor handling/storage marks, typical high spot wear on the lining, and nearly all original gold line paint remaining. A fabulous work of art by famed Master Engraver L.D.
