Unique 1911 Dated
Erfurt Luger Model 1908 Military Semi-Automatic
Pistol, Serial Number “9” - Serial no. 9, 9 mm cal., 4
inch round bbl., in-the-white finish, hardwood grips. This
is a very unique example of an Erfurt Model 1908 military
pistol that was made as a prototype or test pistol. Blade front
and notch rear sights, in-the-white unfinished metal, with the
“crown/ERFURT” marking on the front toggle link. The letter “A” is stamped on
multiple components. In numbering, several components are numbered “9”, with
the barrel numbered with a larger “9” stamp, “61” on the trigger, and “97” on the
breech block. The frame has been retrofitted for a hold-open device, with a small proof
stamp near the pin, and the sear bar shows the later style profile that permits cycling the breech with the safety engaged. Traditional inspection marks are limited, with “crown/B” and “crown/U” proofs on the left and right side, respectively, of the breech block. Fitted with a set of checkered grips and a nickel finished magazine with an unmarked hardwood base. CONDITION: Very good, with a mixed gray patina overall, showing mild spotting and handling marks. The muzzle has a rough, unfinished in-the-white appearance, and some components (like the toggle links) show evidence of a serial number being removed. The grips are
very good, with minor chipping near the screws and safety, along with some mild dings. Mechanically excellent.
Estimate: 2,500 - 4,000
