This example still retains the thin/
narrow grip safety that is not
integral to the rear of the frame, and
it has the improved Model 1909 markings of
“FIRE” and “SAFE” at the rear of the frame along
with a pair of checkered walnut grip panels. The
pistol is numbered “131” with two circled “S” proofs
on the underside of the slide. A swiveling lanyard loop is present, which can be folded into the magazine well if not needed, and the magazine is nickel finished with a blue base and has “131” marked on the spine. The consignor notes that this pistol was restored by
Steve Moeller.
CONDITION: Very fine, retains 98% plus of the professionally restored blue and casehardened finish with a few scattered
minor handling marks under the finish and minimal wear.
The slightly loose fitting grips are also very fine a few scattered light handling marks and crisp recut checkering. Mechanically excellent. An attractive representative example of the rare U.S. test trials Savage Model 1907 pistol!
