Rare First Production Single Digit Serial Number “1” Stevens Model 10 Single Shot Target Pistol - Serial no. 1, 22 RF cal., 8 inch bbl., blue finish, hard rubber grips. Manufactured in 1919, this is the first production Stevens Model 10 pistol, serial number 1. Featuring beaded blade front and elevation adjustable rear sights. The left side of the barrel extension is marked “J. STEVENS ARMS COMPANY/CHICOPEE FALLS, MASS. U.S.A.” and the right side is marked “TRADE MARK/STEVENS/REG.U.S.PAT.OFF.&FGN.” Matching Serial numbers are marked on the barrel, barrel extension, extractor, and frame. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 85% plus original blue finish with some handling marks, dings and scratches. Grips are also very fine with handling marks and overall crisp grip checkering. Documented Prototype Winchester Model 70 Bolt Action Rifle Serial Number EXP.1 - Serial no. EXP.1, 30-06 Springfield cal., 22 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured as a model shop prototype of a Model 70 for the Canadian and European markets. Features ramped blade front sight and folding adjustable rear sights. The barrel is marked “Cooey .30-06 SPRG.” Receiver is simply marked “EXP.1” on the left side of the receiver. Winchester proofs on the chamber and receiver. Fitted in a nicely
figured smooth walnut pistol grip stock without bottom metal and serrated buttplate. This rifle is pictured on Page 203 of “Guns of the NRA National Sporting Arms Museum”. The rifle was on display from 2013 to 2022 at the NRA National Sporting Arms Museum. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 95% plus original blue finish with limited handling marks. LOT 1640 Desirable Serial Number 1 Marlin Model 37 Slide Action Rifle - Serial no. 1, 22 S L LR cal., 24 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1913 with the standard two- line Marlin address and patent dates marked on top of the barrel, and the caliber marking on the upper left at the breech. The upper tang is marked “Marlin/MOD. 37” along with the Marlin inspector’s star. The desirable serial number “1” is marked on the lower tang. It is fitted with beaded blade front and elevation adjustable notch rear sights. Mounted with a nine- groove slide handle and straight grip stock with a checkered hard rubber Marlin buttplate. This rifle was on display at the NRA National Sporting Arms Museum from 2013-2022 and is featured on p. 203 of the book “Guns of the NRA NSAM”. CONDITION: Fine, retains 40% of the faded original blue finish with the balance having mostly thinned to a smooth plum-brown or grey patina. The
wood is very good with light handling marks throughout and a speckling of dark staining on the left of the buttstock. Mechanically excellent. A rare opportunity to own a Marlin serial number 1!
