Excellent Antique Winchester Model 1890 Slide Action Rifle with Desirable Casehardened Receiver - Serial no. 56447, 22 L cal., 24 3/8 inch octagon bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1898. Beaded blade front and elevation adjustable rear notch sights, first style barrel inscription, Winchester “WP” proofs correctly absent, “22 LONG” caliber marking on top barrel flat at the breech, casehardened Second Model receiver with hidden locking lugs, and three- line maker, model, and patent marking on the upper tang. 12 groove slide handle and plain, straight grip walnut stock with
casehardened steel crescent buttplate.
CONDITION: Excellent with 90% plus original blue finish with well defined markings,
some small dings. The receiver retains 90% original vivid case colors with some traces of light oxidation and small surface scratches. The wood is very fine with scattered small dings, small chip visible at the toe, and some dark spotting and 80% of the original case
 colors on the buttplate. Mechanically excellent Estimate: 8,000 - 12,000

Rare and Very Fine Winchester Model 1890 Slide Action Rifle in .22 WRF with Special Order Plain Pistol Grip Stock - Serial no. 175428, 22 WRF cal., 24 inch octagon bbl., blue finish, walnut pistol grip stock. Manufactured in
1903. Beaded blade front and elevation
adjustable rear notch sights, third style
barrel inscription, “22 W.R.F.” on top barrel
flat at the breech, Second Model receiver
with hidden locking lugs, “WRF” marking
on front of receiver, and tang mounted
flip up peep sight. 12 groove slide handle
and plain pistol grip stock with hard
rubber Winchester grip cap, “1903” crudely period carved in the stock belly, and casehardened steel crescent buttplate. The lower tang, end of buttstock, and inside of the buttplate are marked with matching assembly number “17267”.
CONDITION: Very fine with 90% original blue finish, well defined markings, some minor edge wear, small dings on the barrel edges, and cycling marks on the magazine tube and receiver rails. The wood is fine with scattered small dings, and a mostly gray patina on the buttplate with visible cleaning marks. Mechanically excellent.
