“CAL. 300 SAVAGE” is marked on the left side of the barrel at the breech. The finely checkered buttplate is engraved at the heel and toe and features a trapdoor
with the compartment holding an engraved Lyman peep sight. The bolt and extractor are jeweled, the lever is casehardened, and the remaining
surfaces are blued. The highly figured walnut forearm and straight comb pistol grip stock feature fine
multi-point checkering. The tear drop stock flats feature the same fine checkering. Sling eyelets
are mounted on the underside of the stock and forearm. The forearm has a horn end cap. The stock has an engraved grip cap, blank silver
initial oval, and raised cheek piece.

Superb Relief Engraved Game Scene Engraved Griffin & Howe Savage Model
99 Lever Action Takedown Rifle with Scope - Serial no. 298782, 300 Savage cal., 24 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Offered here is a stunning work of firearms art built by famed American gunmaker Griffin & Howe using a Savage Model 99 receiver originally manufactured in 1927. The steel canvas has been beautifully and meticulously engraved by a highly accomplished master engraver whose skill sets are equal to the superb level of craftsmanship carried throughout the build and is well deserving of the Griffin & Howe name. Both sides of the receiver are decorated with a fabulous, finely detailed relief engraved game scenes surrounded by floral scrollwork on a stippled background. The panel scene on the left side depicts two bull moose in a woodland scene. The panel scene on the right side depicts two bucks in a woodland scene. The scrollwork extends to the underside of the receiver, chamber, and upper tang. The upper tang is also embellished with an engraved checkerboard pattern. The takedown collar is fully adorn with broad scroll engraved patterns on a stippled background.
The upper tang carries a Lyman Alaskan 2 1/2x scope on a Griffin & Howe mount. Leather scope lens covers are included. The barrel is fitted with a white beaded blade
ramp front sight with hood and a single folding leaf rear sight. The top of the barrel is marked “BUILT BY GRIFFIN & HOWE NEW YORK, NY.,” and the caliber designation
