Desirable Framed “The Round-up at Work” Colorized Panoramic Print by L.A. Huffman - The visible portion of the print measures 6 3/4 x 19 5/8 inches and features a large herd
of cattle being rounded up by some cowboys on horseback with a large mountain peak in the distant background. The print has been colorized with water colors. The print is marked at the bottom in white ink “The Round-up at work, Sand Flats of Big Dry Montana, August 1900, Seven Wagons, 2000 Saddle Horses, 100 Riders, 50 Reps, Eight cuts in sight, 6000 cattle in the Round-up,” followed by L.A. Huffman’s
Miles City copyright. The frame is hardwood and measures approximately 14 x 26 1/2 inches. Laton Alton Huffman (1854-1931) was among the few photographers to photograph the reality ranching life in Montana in the late 19th century and enlarged many of his earlier photographs later in his life.
CONDITION: Excellent, the image distinct and showing vibrant color, minimal wear or fading, and some faint staining on the matting. The frame is also excellent with a few scattered light handling/storage marks.
