Antique Colt Model 1877
Thunderer Double Action Revolver with
Factory Letter - Serial no. 83682, 41 LC cal., 6 inch round bbl., nickel finish, hard rubber grips. The accompanying factory letter confirms
the 6 inch barrel in .41 caliber and nickel finish with the type of stocks not listed and the revolver was shipped on August 1, 1891 to J.C. Petmecky of Austin, Texas. This was a two gun shipment. An immigrant from Germany, J.C. Petmecky (1842-1929) was a gunsmith and gun dealer who had his shop on Congress Avenue. As reported in his obituary, demand for Petmecky’s services was high and his customers included Governor
Sam Houston and Texas Rangers. During the Civil War, he built guns
for the Confederacy. Matching serial numbers on the frame, trigger
guard, and back strap.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 90% plus untouched original nickel
plating with front edge wear on the cylinder. The grips are very fine with light high edge wear and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. A high condition Colt Model 1877 DA Revolver shipped to a noted Austin, Texas, gunsmith and dealer.

Desirable Antique Colt Model
1878 Frontier Six Shooter Double
Action Revolver with Factory Letter - Serial no. 11837, 44 WCF cal., 5 1/2 inch round bbl., blue finish, hard rubber grips. Manufactured
in 1883, the included factory letter confirms the current configuration
(grips not listed), as well as shipment to Hartley & Graham in New York on 22 October 1883. The top of the barrel has the standard one-line address and
the left is marked “COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER” in an etched panel. “44.C.F.”
is marked on the left of the trigger guard. It is fitted with the standard blade and frame notch sights, as well as a pair of checkered hard rubber grips with Rampant Colts at the tops and a lanyard loop on the butt.
CONDITION: Very good, retains 30% of the original blue finish, mostly in sheltered areas and the sides of the frame, with the balance having
thinned to mostly a smooth brown grey patina and a well-
defined etched panel. The grips are also very good with
a noticeable chip absent from the back edge of the left
panel and otherwise light wear. Mechanically needs work/
adjustment, as the cylinder spins freely.

Manufactured in 1902. The
barrel has the two-line Hartford
address and “COLT. D.A. 41” stamped
on the left side. The left side of the frame has
the three-line patent dates marking followed by a circled Rampant Colt. Matching serial numbers are on the frame, trigger guard and back strap. It is fitted with a pair of checkered hard rubber grips with Rampant Colts at the tops. Includes a George Lawrence Co. leather “skeleton” holster that is also marked “10” above the maker’s mark and “38/6” below it. The back is marked “RAY JOHNSTON/DEPT SHR/MONO CTY”.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, retains 85% of the bright original high polish blue finish, 80% plus of the vibrant original case colors, and 90% of the bright original nitre blue, with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina and a couple scattered small patches of light surface pitting. The grips are very fine with a few scattered minor blemishes in the otherwise crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

Colt Etched Panel Model 1877 Thunderer Double Action Ejectorless Revolver with Case - Serial no. 26084, 41 Long Colt
cal., 3 1/2 inch round bbl., blue/ casehardened finish, walnut grips. Manufactured in 1880. Features blade front and notch rear sights, two line address on top of the barrel with the etched panel
“Colt D.A. 41” on the left, three- line patent marking on the left of the frame. Includes a relined hardwood case containing a cleaning rod, screwdriver,
oiler and key.
CONDITION: Very good, retains
30% plus original blue finish
strongest on the trigger guard and front grip strap, 25% original case colors with gray and brown patina on the balance, and sharp markings and edges in the metal overall. Grips are fine with mostly defined checkering and some scattered nicks
and scratches. Mechanically excellent. Included case is fine as refinished and relined.

Very Fine Antique Colt Sheriff’s Model 1877
Lightning Double Action Revolver with Holster and
Factory Letter - Serial no. 27938, 38 Long Colt cal., 3
1/2 inch round bbl., nickel finish, hard rubber grips. The
factory letter lists this revolver in .38 caliber with a 3
1/2 inch barrel, nickel finish, and rubber grips when
shipped to J.P. Moores Sons in New York City on March
21, 1881. It has a rounded blade front sight, two-line
barrel address, and etched “COLT D.A. 38” marking on
the barrel which was not equipped with an ejector
and has the longer cylinder pin, standard three-line
patent marking on the frame, “38 CAL” on the left side of
the trigger guard, matching serial numbers, and checkered hard rubber
grips with the Rampant Colt at the top. Includes a double loop holster
with floral tooling.
CONDITION: Very fine with 85% of the original nickel plated finish, some
flaking mainly around the breech, and general light scratches and dings.
The grips are fine and have mild handling wear, attractive faded aged tones, and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

Double Action Revolver with
Attractive Pearl Grips - Serial no. 122994, 38
Long Colt cal., 4 1/2 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened finish, pearl
grips. Manufactured in 1901. The barrel has the two-line Hartford address
on top and “COLT D.A. 38” on the left side, frame has the three-line patent
dates marking on the left side, and matching numbers on frame, trigger
guard, and grip straps. It is fitted with a pair of smooth pearl grips.
CONDITION: Fine, retains 85% plus of the original blue finish, 40% of the vibrant
original case colors, and 80% of the original nitre blue with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina and a few scattered patches of very light surface pitting. The grips are very fine with a few hairline age cracks around the screws and otherwise minimal handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
