World War II U.S. Johnson Automatics Model 1941 Semi-Automatic Rifle with
Bayonet and Manuals - Serial no. B3680, 30-06 Springfield cal., 22 inch round bbl., parkerized finish, walnut stock. Originally up for consideration by the Netherlands Purchasing Commission as a service weapon for colonial troops in the Dutch East Indies, a large order for the Johnson Rifle was placed in 1940, but the Japanese invasion of the East Indies prevented delivery. These rifles were not able to gain interest for adoption by the U.S. Army, who favored the M1 Garand, but a small amount of them were subsequently used by the U.S.M.C. Marine Raider and Parachute Battalions in the early Makin Island, Guadalcanal and Tulagi Island hopping campaigns in the Pacific. One source reports approximately 21,400 Johnson semi-automatic rifles in total were manufactured, and approximately 750 were procured by the U.S. Marine Corps (Canfield’s book). These rifles employed several unique features such as the rotary magazine which allows reloading at any time, and a recoiling barrel that has the ability to be easily removed from the rifle by hand for takedown, which allows the rifle to be stowed in a parachute jump bag. The rear, right side of the receiver is marked “CRANSTON/ ARMS/CO.” in a triangle below a small five-pointed Dutch star as commonly seen on Johnson rifles, and the top of the receiver is marked “CAL. 30-’06 SEMI-AUTO./”JOHNSON AUTOMATICS”/MODEL OF 1941/MADE IN PROVIDENCE, R.I., U.S.A.” above the serial number with U.S. and foreign patent date markings to the rear. The barrel locking bushing has the correct markings of “30-06” and “41” for the year on the front flat. Blade front and 1,000 meter rear sight. The serial number “B3680” is on top of the receiver and the bolt is numbered “C1548” (it was standard for numbered components on Johnson rifles to not match). It has a two-piece walnut stock and forend. Includes bayonet with brown leather scabbard, M1907 brown leather sling, and three Johnson manuals. CONDITION: Very fine, retains 85% original parkerized finish with a few small areas turning to a smooth brown on the receiver. Stock is also very fine as sanded and re-oiled, slightly undersized around the magazine well, with a few light handling marks and scratches. Mechanically excellent. Included bayonet and scabbard are both very fine. Estimate: 7,500 - 11,000

Very Fine World War II U.S. Stevens Model 620 Slide Action Trench Shotgun - Serial
no. 27773, 12 gauge, 20 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured on contract, the Stevens Model 620 was a refinement of the Model 520. A solid frame hammerless shotgun, the 620 was capable of being taken down for transport as well as having slam fire capability, making it both easy to move about
as well as a vicious source of firepower. Adopted for the Army and Marine Corps for World War II, the 620 remained
in service for Korea and Vietnam. A single brass bead sight is installed on the bayonet lug, with a six-hole heat shield, cylinder choke, the three-line Chicopee Falls address on the right side of the barrel ahead of the “P/flaming bomb” stamps and the gauge and 2 3/4 inch chamber markings on the left. The “P” and bomb are repeated on the left of the receiver, with “MODEL 620” and “U.S.” further to the back, and the serial number and “U/S” on the underside ahead of the trigger guard. Fitted with a smooth round forearm, pistol grip stock and serrated plastic buttplate. 14 inch length of pull. CONDITION: Very fine, retains 85% plus original blue finish, showing a plum patina on the bayonet lug adapter,
numerous scratches concentrated on top of the bayonet lug adapter and front of the heat shield, a few patches
of dark deep pitting visible on the left of the muzzle and bayonet lug adapter, some light cycling wear on the
magazine tube, and sharp markings in the metal. Wood is very fine with a few light scratches and dents, a few minor chips, and defined edges. Mechanically excellent.
Provenance: The Paul Crockett Jr. Collection.
