Outstanding Late Production
Winchester Model 92 Lever Action
Saddle Ring .44-40 Carbine - Serial no. 993864,
44-40 cal., 20 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock.
This is an attractive example of a late prodcution Winchester Model 92 S.R.C., manufactured in 1928. The left rear of the barrel is marked with the model, Winchester trademark, and caliber designation. The right rear is marked with the two-line address, and the top of the barrel and receiver are marked
with the Winchester oval proof at the breech. The upper tang
is marked “WINCHESTER/TRADE MARK/MADE IN U.S.A.,” and
the serial number is on the bottom of the receiver. Pinned blade front sight and folding ladder rear sight, saddle ring
and staple on the left side of the receiver, all blue finish, and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip
stock with a steel carbine buttplate.
CONDITION: Excellent. The carbine retains 98% original blue finish overall with a couple of scratches on top of the barrel at the breech and some barely noticeable semi-circular rub marks on the rear of the receiver caused by the saddle ring. The wood is also excellent with only a few minor dings and handling marks. The markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 9,500 - 14,000
