Winchester Model 1876 Lever Action Rifle - Serial no. 38311, 45-60 cal., 28 inch octagonal bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in
1883, this rifle features the Third Model receiver with the guide made integral with the receiver. The top barrel flat is marked “WINCHESTER’S REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN. CT/KING’S-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED-MARCH 29, 1866. OCTOBER 16. 1860” ahead of the rear sight and “CAL 45-60” at the breech. The serial number is located on the lower tang behind the lever latch. The brass cartridge elevator is marked “45-60”. Lyman combination front globe sight, a rear leaf sight marked “1876”. Blue finish with casehardened hammer and lever. Mounted with a smooth walnut forearm with steel end cap and straight grip stock with a steel crescent buttplate and buttstock compartment (cleaning rod not included). CONDITION: Fine. The rifle retains 40% of the original blue finish with scattered scratches and dings and aging to a smooth brown patina. 50% of the original nitre blue remains on the loading gate. The markings are legible. The reoiled wood is very good with scattered scratches, dings and a small area cut out for a tang mounted peep sight. The upper tang has been crudely drilled and tapped. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 3,000 - 4,500 LOT 3074 Desirable Antique Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Rifle - Serial no. 56454, 30 WCF cal., 26 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1896. The rifle is equipped with a Lyman beaded blade front sight, two leaf rear sight (replacement) and Lyman tang peep sight. The barrel has the two-line address legend and “30 W.C.F.” on top and the two-line nickel steel marking on the left side. The oiled forearm and straight grip stock are uncheckered. The buttstock is fitted with a crescent buttplate. CONDITION: Fine, retaining 70% plus original blue finish with thinning to brown and high edge wear on the balance. There is some smooth gray patina on the area ahead of the lever. 40% original nitre blue remains on the loading gate. Some darkened original case colors remain on the hammer, traces of original case colors remain on the lever and patterns of original case colors remain on the buttplate. The reoiled wood is very good showing some minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 3,250 - 4,250 LOT 3075 Antique Winchester Model 1886 Deluxe Lightweight Lever Action Rifle - Serial no. 109497, 33 WCF cal., 24 inch lightweight round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1896, with the standard two-line address and .33 W.C.F. caliber markings on top of the later production replacement barrel, and the two-line nickel steel marking on the left near the breech. The model marking is on the upper tang while the two-line patent dates and serial number are on the lower tang. The left side of the lower tang is marked “997 R” with a few other markings crossed out, and “163” is marked in the stock inlet. It is fitted with a ramped Marble No. 2 beaded blade front sight (bead absent), two-leaf folding rear sight, and a tang mounted peep sight. It is fitted with a nicely figured, H-pattern checkered forearm and pistol grip stock with a hard rubber grip cap and checkered shotgun buttplate. CONDITION: Very good, retains 30% of the original blue finish on the replacement barrel and magazine and strong traces on the receiver with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina. The lightly sanded and reoiled replacement wood is also very good with a couple barely noticeable hairline age cracks in the right of the stock, a few scattered minor dings, and mostly well-defined checkering. Attractive Special Order Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Takedown Rifle in Desirable .25- 35 W.C.F. - Serial no. 343023, 25-35 WCF cal., 26 inch part octagon bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1907, this is an attractive example of a special order working rifle. The special order part octagon barrel is marked with the standard two-line address/patent dates, two-line nickel steel marking, and the caliber. There are Winchester factory oval proofs on the barrel and receiver at the breech. The three-line model and trademark information is on the upper tang and the serial number is on the bottom of the receiver. It is fitted with a Marble Sheard beaded blade front sight and a D.W. King folding leaf rear sight, as well as sling swivels on the forend nosecap and buttstock. It is mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate. Includes a leather sling. CONDITION: Very fine, retains 75% plus of the original blue finish with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina and some scattered light spotting. 40% of the original nitre blue remains on the loading gate. The wood is also very fine with some scattered minor dings. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 2,250 - 3,500
LOT 3077 Antique Winchester Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle - Serial no. 30460, 40-82 WCF cal., 26 inch octagon bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1889, the standard two-line address and caliber marking are on the top barrel flat. The model designation is marked on the upper tang. The serial number and two-line patent dates are marked on the lower tang. It is fitted with a German silver blade front sight and an elevation adjustable buckhorn rear sight. It is mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate. CONDITION: Very good, retains 20% of the original blue finish and silvered traces of the original case colors with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina and some scattered small patches of light surface pitting. The wood is also very good with a small hairline grain crack visible in the left of the wrist and some scattered minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 2,000 - 3,000
LOT 3078 Winchester Model 1873 Lever Action Rifle - Serial no. 579470B, 32 WCF cal., 24 inch octagon bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1904 as a Third Model with integral dust cover rail and dust cover with serrated rear edge. It has standard markings including the two-line Winchester address/King’s patent marking on the upper barrel flat. It is fitted with German silver blade front and elevation adjustable buckhorn rear sights. It is mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate. CONDITION: Fine, retains 50% of the original blue finish, 30% of the original nitre blue on the loading gate, and strong traces of the original case colors with the balance having thinned to a smooth grey or plum-brown patina. The wood is also fine with numerous light handling marks scattered throughout. Mechanically excellent.
