Rare Early Mauser Banner Model 1906/34 Swiss Contract Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol with Holster - Serial no.
1883V, 7.65 mm Luger Auto cal., 4 3/4 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. This is a rare early Swiss contract Luger manufactured by the newly renamed
Mauser factory in the early 1930s. These 1906/34 Mauser banner commercial contract Luger pistols were for sale inside Germany, also for foreign contracts and were made up of a combination of left over
DWM factory parts along with newly manufactured Mauser parts. These Swiss contract Lugers can be found with both a blank chamber or with the “Swiss Cross in a Sunburst” as seen on this example. The
serial number range for this model is between 1275v-1920v with a reported total production quantity of only about 645. This example has the short style barrel extension with the 1906 frame with coil spring and grip safety, fast taper barrel, first
pattern polished lower safety area and no stock lug. It has the standard “Mauser Banner” on the front toggle, with “(crown)/ (crown)/U” commercial proofmarks on the barrel extension and breech block. The matching serial number is located on the front of the frame and underside of the barrel, with the last two digits of the serial number stamped on the various components besides
the unnumbered checkered walnut grips, front toggle, firing pin and magazine. This rare Swiss contract Luger is complete with one magazine that has a nickel finished aluminum body with an unmarked walnut base. Also included is a Swiss pattern brown leather flap
holster with shoulder strap, with a Bern leatherworker’s mark on the rear and a faint hand written name inside the flap.
CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 75% original blue finish on frame and barrel extension with some areas of artificial gray patina visible on
the grip straps, arsenal refinish on replacement barrel, and sharp markings and edges in the metal overall. 95% arsenal refurbished straw colors visible on the small parts. Grips are very fine with a few minor handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Included leather holster is fine with very light edge wear.
Estimate: 6,500 - 9,500

Very Scarce German Krieghoff Commercial Contract P.08 Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol - Serial no. 10950, 9 mm Luger cal., 4 inch round bbl., blue
finish, checkered brown plastic grips. This is a beautiful example of an original commercial contract Krieghoff Luger that was manufactured in 1940. These
Krieghoff Lugers originally started out as Luftwaffe contract pistols that were rejected by the Luftwaffe and then resold on the commercial market. These
are not in a separate serial number range but are instead intermixed right in the military contract serial number range. They will show Luftwaffe acceptance
proofs intermixed with the Krieghoff rejection proofs and commercial proofs. It is estimated that less than 50 of this series were actually manufactured.
These Krieghoff Lugers still show the unusually high quality of the fit and finish on the various
parts. The chamber area is blank, and it has the late production C-2 style Krieghoff toggle marking
as shown on page 83 of the “Krieghoff Parabellum”. The right of the frame rail has a partial
“Luftwaffe Eagle/2” acceptance proof that was partially removed (by the Krieghoff factory) with the
five-pointed Krieghoff rejection star directly above on the barrel extension. The left of the barrel
extension, left frame rail, underside of the barrel and top of the breech block have the “crown/N”
commercial proof applied after being rejected by the Luftwaffe. This Luger is numbered in the commercial manner with the full serial number on the front of
the frame and left of the barrel extension, the last two digits of the serial number stamped on the underside of the toggles,
left of the breech block, back side of the side plate, safety, and the remaining small parts unnumbered, with some of the parts
“Luftwaffe Eagle/2” acceptance proofed. The replacement blue finished magazine is numbered “5803/V” on the aluminum base.
It has the early style brown checkered plastic grips with the coarse checkering and narrow border.
CONDITION: Very fine, retains 85% plus original blue finish with minor edge and high spot wear overall and some mild wear on
either side of the muzzle with some patches of moderate pitting. 75% original straw colors remain on the small parts. The grips
are excellent with crisp checkering and a few small nicks. Mechanically excellent. A very fine example of a very scarce Krieghoff
commercial Luger for the serious Luger collector.
Estimate: 3,500 - 5,500
LOT 1319
Mauser “K” Date “S/42” Code P.08 Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol Rig with “1934” Dated Holster - Serial no. 7383, 9 mm cal., 4 inch round bbl.,
blue finish, hardwood grips. Manufactured in 1934, the highly desirable “K” date “S/42” code Lugers were part of the effort of the relatively fresh German government to start moving out from under the restrictions of the Versailles Treaty in preparation for their wars of aggression. While international will to enforce
the treaty had been slipping for some time by this point, there was still concern of pushback, which led to the system of using letters in lieu of plain dates (a procedure that would be abandoned once it became clear that no one was going to raise a fuss) and the use of assigned codes in lieu of plain maker’s marks
(which would be the status quo through the end of the war). Being among the arms on tap for some of the earliest action of World War II in Europe, letter code firearms rarely went unissued, being on the belts and in the hands of the soldiers executing the earliest political and military occupations of Germany’s neighbors, often being subjected to years of wartime wear and tear, sometimes outright destroyed by the harsh conditions of combat, making them rare in any condition, let alone in condition as fine as this example. Fixed sights, with the “K” date on the chamber, “S/42” code on the front toggle link, “B][90” on the extension and barrel, “S][91” on the extension, and “droop wing eagle” firing proofs on the barrel, extension and breechblock. The underside of the barrel bears a “8,82” internal diameter stamp on the underside, and block “S” stamps are present on the sideplate, sear, and takedown lever, front toggle, link and safety bar. Matching numbers are present overall in the traditional military pattern, including the right grip panel (left blank), though both of the period
replacement nickel finished alloy base magazines have mixed numbers and “S”/”B90” stamps. Included with
the pistol is a black leather Auwaerter & Bubeck holster, dated 1934, with brass tipped cleaning rod and
takedown tool in the flap compartments.
CONDITION: Fine, with 85% of the arsenal refurbished blue finish, showing bright edge wear, mild handling
marks, areas of gray and brown patina, and mild spotting. The grips are very good, with some light dings on
the otherwise crisp checkering. The holster is very good, with some scuffs and cuts. Mechanically excellent.
Estimate: 3,000 - 5,000
 Collector's Fact:
According to The Krieghoff Parabellum by Randall Gibson, an estimated 50 commercial production Krieghoff Luger pistols were produced from rejected military pistols in the approximate serial number range of 10,600-10,900.
