World War II U.S. Army 462nd Parachute Field
Artillery Battalion A-2 Flight Jacket - The A-2
flight jacket was worn by a member of the 462nd
Parachute Field Artillery Battalion patch, was
manufactured by Poughkeepsie Leather Coat Co.,
has a Talon zipper, and is a size 36. The left chest carries a 462nd Parachute Field
Artillery Battalion patch. The 462nd Parachute Field Artillery Battalion served in
the Pacific Theater during World War II and was attached to the 503rd Parachute
Regimental Combat Team for the combat jump during the retaking of Corregidor in February 1945. In the months after Pearl Harbor, Corregidor, a small island at the mouth of Manila Bay, was the last Allied stronghold in the Philippines to fall to the Japanese. In October 1944, America and her allies returned, starting with the recapture of Leyte. Operation TOPSIDE was the U.S. airborne assault on Corregidor that began on the morning of February 16, 1945. The airdrops included two battalions of the 503rd Parachute Infantry that consisted of members from the 462nd Parachute Field Artillery along with their 75mm howitzers. By early March, Corregidor was officially in control by the Americans. Includes a service shirt and tie.
CONDITION: Fine displaying overall minor wear, heavier on the cuffs and collar. Patch retains strong colors. A World War II A-2 flight jacket associated with the 462nd Parachute Field Artillery Battalion, a unit that helped fulfill General Douglas MacArthur’s prophecy, “I shall return.”

2) 323rd Squadron (91st
Bomb Group) patch,
embroidered on gray felt,
with an unhappy goat
riding a falling bomb
through clouds. 3) 305
Bomb Group, embroidered
on blue felt, with a “CAN
DO” banner over a bomb
in a mailed fist, with a
broken swastika below. 4) 401st Squadron (91st Bomb Group) patch, embroidered with leather backing on blue felt, with a wildman with a spiked club and a stereotypical Indian with tomahawk riding a falling bomb. 5) 401st Squadron (91st Bomb Group) patch, painted leather, similar to #4 with color variation and minor
design differences.
CONDITION: Patch #5 shows some cracking and edge wear, and patch #2 shows some holes concentrated at the edges; otherwise, the patches are very good overall.

(401st Bomb Group) patch,
embroidered on white cloth, with
a design of an anthropomorphized
bomb dressed as a boxer on
a green circular field. 2) 614th
Squadron (401st Bomb Group)
patch, embroidered on blue cloth,
with a green bomb, golden winged
horseshoe, and a smiling red devil.
3) 351st Bomb Squadron (100th
Bomb Group) patch, unpainted
carved leather, featuring a bird with
spurs and a cigar carrying a bomb
across a desert landscape. 4) 674th
Squadron (417th Bomb Group)
patch, embroidered on white cloth,
featuring a wolf in Army uniform
riding a cloud, a bomb under one
arm and a club with a nail through
it in the other hand.
CONDITION: All are in very good condition, with #1 and #2 showing some small holes and some minor scuffs on #3. All show strong detail in the decoration, with solid color on the embroidered patches.
