Factory Engraved and Gold Inlaid Luigi Franchi 20 Gauge Sidelock Double Barrel Shotgun - Serial no. 5883, 20 gauge, 26 3/4 inch solid rib bbl., blue/gold finish, walnut stock. Blued Poldi steel barrels with a single steel bead sight on the matted solid rib, standard barrel markings, import mark under the forend, and 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The blued sidelock action displays attractive light scroll engraving with dot borders as well as “S.A. LUIGI FRANCHI BRESCIA” inlaid in gold on the left lockplate. The gun features double triggers, bushed firing pins, and a tang mounted manual safety switch with gold inlaid “S”. Nicely figured, multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings, including the Anson button release,
and straight grip stock with checkered bare butt. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine
inches from the breech both proved at 15.9mm (.626 inches) and measured .631/.634 inches; choke constriction .011/.032 inches; minimum wall thickness .014/.009
inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 1/2 inch drop at heel; 14 3/8 inch length of pull; cast-off; weight 6 lbs. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 95% professionally reapplied blue finish with light handling evidence and scattered minor spotting. There is a chip at the toe and a chip at the left rear of the forend, otherwise, the wood is very good with some light dings and scratches, and well-defined checkering. Mechanically excellent.
