Factory Game Scene Engraved W. W. Greener Boxlock Double Barrel Shotgun - Serial no. 40371, 12 gauge, 27 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Blued Damascus steel barrels with a single steel bead sight on the matted solid rib, import mark under the forend, 2 1/2 inch chambers with automatic ejectors, and wedges of scroll engraving at either
  breech. The casehardened boxlock action displays beautifully
relief carved oak leaf and acorn fences, a gold inlaid coronet on the toplever,
and extensive tight scrollwork surrounding a dog and mallard scene on the left, a pair of rabbits on the underside, dog and bird scene on the right, a pair of dogs on the triggerguard, and a pair of birds on the lower tang. The gun features double triggers and a Greener safety with an engraved rabbit. Nicely figured, fancy checkered splinter forend with
horn tip and engraved fittings, and straight grip stock with inlaid transitions, inscription oval marked “RB”, and serrated horn buttplate. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .739/.741 inches; choke constriction .039/.045 inches; minimum wall
thickness .024/.025 inches; 1 5/8 inch drop at comb; 2 1/8 inch drop at heel; 14 inch length of pull; cast-off; weight 6 lbs. 1 oz. CONDITION: Fine, showing a smooth brown patination on the barrels, 30% original case colors, scattered areas showing some pitting, and overall mild handling evidence. The wood is very fine with a few dings and scratches, some insect damage to the buttplate, and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 3,500 - 4,750

solid rib which is marked with the company address and scroll engraving at the breech, London nitro
proofs, import mark under forend, chamber proved at 1 1/8 oz. (2 1/2 inch), and choke constrictions of .010/.016 inches. The bright polished sidelock action displays scroll and floral engraving and features double triggers and a tang mounted automatic safety with gold inlaid “SAFE”. Nicely figured, multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved finish and straight grip stock with teardrop carved flats, blank inscription oval, and serrated bare butt. Includes a wood and leather takedown case with
a previous owner marked on the lid. Stock measurements: 1 3/16 inch drop at comb; 1 7/16 inch drop at heel; 13 11/16 inch length of pull; cast-off; weight 6 lbs. 9 oz. CONDITION: Very fine overall as professionally restored, retaining 99% blue finish, attractive bright finish, light handling evidence, some marring at the toe, and overall crisp wood checkering. The case is fair. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 2,000 - 3,000
LOT 492 Antique Factory Engraved W.W. Greener List No. 4 Double Barrel Shotgun with Case - Serial no. 39685, 12 gauge, 25 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Damascus steel barrels with a single steel bead on the matted solid rib, 1976 dated London nitro reproofs, and 2 3/4 inch chambers. The barrels have been shortened to the current length. The scalloped casehardened boxlock action displays scroll engraving and features double triggers and a classic Greener safety. Beautifully figured, multi-point checkered forend with horn tip and engraved
fittings, and straight grip stock with inlaid flats, inscription oval marked “J.DARNOLD/Mar. 11th/1893/FROM CHA”, and a red rubber recoil pad. Included is a
leather and wood takedown case. Stock measurements: 1 7/8 inch drop at comb; 2 1/2 inch drop at heel; 14 3/4 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 15 oz.
CONDITION: Fine, showing a mixed grey and brown patina on the barrels, 30% original case colors, scattered minor oxidation, and light handling evidence. The wood is fine as refurbished showing a few light marks and crisp checkering. The case is good. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 1,900 - 2,750

Single bead sight on the smooth solid rib which is marked with the address, import mark under forend, 2 1/2 inch chambers with ejectors, and .008/.014 inches. Casehardened boxlock action with dog and bird scenes surrounded by floral scroll and featuring double triggers and a Greener side safety. Attractively figured splinter forend with horn tip and DeelEy release and straight grip stock with blank inscription oval and leather covered recoil pad. Includes a leather bound takedown case. Stock measurements: 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 7/8 inch drop at heel; 14 13/16 inch length of pull; cast-off; weight 7 lbs. 2 oz. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 98% reapplied blue finish, traces of case colors, light handling evidence, and sharp checkering on the wood. The case is good. Ejectors need work, otherwise mechanically excellent.
