CONDITION: Very fine. The barrel retains 80% plus of the bright original high polish blue finish with loss mainly from flaking on the forward sections which exhibit smooth brown patina. The cylinder retains 30% of the bright original blue finish with loss from flaking and smooth brown patina on the balance as well as
a distinct roll-scene and all but one of the safety pins
in good shape. The loading lever, frame, and hammer, retains 90% plus of the vivid original case colors.
The engraving remains crisp, and the case colors are particularly vibrant on the rear flats of the loading lever arm, sides of the frame, and back of the hammer. The trigger guard retains 90% plus of the original silver plated finish and displays a very attractive dark aged patina on the silver and some golden rod color aged patina on the exposed brass. The back strap retains nearly all of the original age darkened silver plating at the top by the hammer and on the butt and has loss along the back where it displays an attractive aged patina on the exposed brass. The grip is also very fine and has very attractive natural grain and creamy tones, minimal age cracks, and slight handling and storage wear. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine and has mild age and storage related wear, including staining and fading on the lining as well as some tears. The accessories are very fine with minor age and storage related wear and the majority of the original finish remaining. This is a stunning cased set overall, and
the revolver in particular is outstanding with its high condition, beautiful factory engraving, and contrasting antique ivory grip.
