Colt M16A2 Automatic Carbine, Class III/NFA Fully Transferable Machine Gun - Serial
no. 8030534, 5.56 mm cal., 14 1/2 inch round bbl., matte black phosphate finish, metal stock. Manufactured as part of the “8 million” commercial serial range, this is a Colt M16A2 automatic rifle.
A very early example, while marked “A2” it shows a number of features in common with the Vietnam used M16A1 variant. This early M16A2 specimen is rare in that it is a fully automatic weapon outfitted with the transitional 3-position “SAFE”/”SEMI”/”AUTO” full automatic trigger group, instead of the 3-round burst firing trigger group normally associated with the A2. Adjustable post front and two leaf rear sights, with an A2 pattern flash hider on the “C MP 5.56 NATO 1/7” barrel with 1:7 twist, bayonet lug, checkered pistol grip, and a two-position telescoping buttstock. The A1 profile upper receiver features a low profile deflector and a “bulls-eye” forward assist, and the lower receiver has the aforementioned selector markings with a right handed switch. The bolt carrier is marked “C”, with an “MPC” marked bolt head, both matte gray finished. With a black canvas sling.
CONDITION: Excellent, with 98% plus original matte black phosphate finish, showing some light
wear and handling marks overall. The anodization on the buffer tube is thinning, with the furniture showing mild handling marks. Some paint accents have been applied to the sights. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
Estimate: 35,000 - 47,500
