P. 35

CONDITION: Fine. The engraving remains crisp. 70% plus of the original high polish blue finish remains on the barrel
and magazine tube which exhibit some minor fading and oxidation mainly along the upper right. The hammer, trigger, and lever retain 60% of the vibrant case colors. There are strong patches of silver plating in the protected areas, mostly by the hammer and trigger. The silver has a deep aged patina. The brass also has deep aged patina. There are some mild marks and scratches scattered throughout. The refinished stock is very good and has some attractive figure, a spliced oval just behind the lower tang possibly where an initial escutcheon was previously located, minor edge wear, and a few dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent. All Henrys are desirable, but factory engraved Henry’s featured in widely referenced publications are particularly sought after and hard to come by. This rifle has long served as the representative example of this pattern for Winchester collectors and is sure to enhance any collection.
Provenance: The Henry R. Vogel Collection; Property of a Gentleman.
