Factory Master Giacomo Badillini Signed and Engraved Renato Gamba Mannlicher Model Mustang Single Shot Rifle with Zeiss Scope and Case - Serial no. A33456, 30-06 Springfield
cal., 24 1/2 inch solid rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. Blued steel barrel with a ramped beaded blade front sight, fixed rear sight, and German claw mounts holding a Zeiss Diatal-Z 4x32mm scope on the matted solid rib, 1981 dated Italian proofs, left side of the breech marked “MANNLICHER MOD MUSTANG”, and chamber with extractor. The coin finished bolstered Holland & Holland style sidelock action displays beautifully executed extensive leafy scroll engraving which extends to the toplever, tangs, and triggerguard. The triggerplate is signed “Badillini” for Italian Master Engraver Giacomo Badillini. The rifle features a double set trigger, roller right hand triggerguard, and a tang mounted manual safety switch. Highly figured, multi-point checkered Schnabel tip forend with engraved fittings, including the Deeley latch release, and pistol grip stock with raise cheekpiece and ventilated black rubber recoil pad. Included is a wood and leather takedown case, a 30-06 snapcap, and a leather sling. Length of pull 14 1/2 inches. Weight 7 lbs. 3 oz. with scope. CONDITION: Very fine overall, retaining 95% plus original blue finish with some thinning, 98% original coin finish, minor handling evidence, recoil pad deteriorating, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. The scope optics are sharp. The case is very fine. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 6,500 - 8,500
LOT 1494 Severin Signed Game Scene Engraved and Gold Inlaid Mauser 98 Bolt Action Sporting Rifle with Zeiss Scope - Serial no. 110380, 8x60 mm cal., 24 inch round bbl., blue/gold finish, walnut stock. Blued steel barrel with a ramped blade front sight, sling stud barrel band, gold inlaid caliber marking, five position (one standing, four folding) rear island sight, commercial German proofs, and engraved front German claw mount on a saddle base. The blued action shows standard proofs and markings, Mauser banner on the front receiver ring, engraved rear claw mount, and gold inlaid and deep relief engraved bolt handle and knob. The action is mounted with a Zeiss Diavari Z 1.5-6x42 T* scope. The scope does not fit securely in the rear mount. The bottom metal and triggerguard are extensively decorated with outstanding scrollwork with gold borders as well as a relief inlaid gold bear on the floorplate and a pair of wild boars on the triggerguard, both cut in very high detail. Signed “Severin” ahead of the floorplate, likely for FN master engraver L. Severin. Nicely figured, multi-point checkered pistol grip stock with horn forend tip and grip cap, rear sling stud, raised cheekpiece, “GB” in the gold inscription oval, and red rubber recoil pad. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 90% plus refinished blue finish and 99% gold finish with an area of rub wear on the underside of the barrel, minor pitting in areas under the surface, and light handling evidence overall. The wood is very good with a few dings and scratches, a repaired crack in the wrist, and a mix of worn and crisp checkering. The scope optics are sharp. Mechanically excellent.
