Attractive Silver Plated Smith & Wesson Model No. 1 3rd Issue
Revolver with Desirable Wexler & DeGress
Cast Silver Plated Grips and Pipe Case - Serial no.
40378, 22 RF cal., 3 3/16 inch solid rib bbl., silver finish,
metal grips. Manufactured in 1869-1898 with this example featuring full silver plating and scarce Wexler & DeGress grips. The
barrel rib has the standard one-line S&W legend. The grips feature floral
scrollwork as well as a relief portrait on the right panel and patent marking on the left panel.
Matching assembly marks on the grip frame, cylinder, and barrel. Includes a period pipe case with
white silk and purple velvet lining.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, retaining 97% period retailer applied silver plating taking on an attractive dark aged appearance. The grip are also excellent. Mechanically excellent. The pipe case is fine with minor wear overall. A highly attractive full silver plated S&W Model No. 1 3rd Issue revolver wearing scarce Wexler & DeGress grips.

Exceptional Cased Smith & Wesson Model No. 1 3rd Issue Revolver - Serial no. 46685, 22 RF cal., 3 3/16 inch solid rib bbl., blue finish, rosewood grips. Manufactured in 1868-1881 with this outstanding example featuring the one-line S&W barrel rib legend,
a right grip panel
numbered to the
gun, and matching
assembly marks on
the grip frame, cylinder, and barrel. The period partitioned case contains a box of UMC .32 caliber cartridges (approximately 40 rounds).
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 98% plus bright original high polish blue finish with scattered handling marks. Nearly all vivid original case colors remain on the hammer. The grips are also excellent with some high edge wear, scattered handling marks, and nearly all original varnish. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine with minor handling/storage marks and some typical high spot wear on the lining.

this very fine example
having the one-line
S&W address marking,
a right grip panel
numbered to the gun,
and matching assembly marks on the grip frame, cylinder, and barrel. The period case contains a cartridge block holding 27 rounds, 4 rounds that appear to be blank firing, cleaning rod, and case key.
CONDITION: Very fine. The barrel retains 75% original blue finish and the cylinder retain 30% original blue finish with a smooth brown patina on the balance. The frame retains 98% attractive age darkened original silver plating. The grips are also very fine with some minor handling marks and most of the original varnish remaining. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine with a number of handling/storage marks, a crack along the grain on the lid, and worn lining.

Model No. 1 2nd Issue Revolver - Serial
no. 17537, 22 RF cal., 3 3/16 inch solid rib bbl., blue/silver
finish, rosewood grips. Manufactured from 1860-1868. This is an
outstanding example of a S&W Model No. 1 2nd Issue revolver with blued
barrel and cylinder and silver plated frame. The right grip panel is numbered
to the gun. There are matching assembly marks on the grip frame, barrel, and cylinder.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 95% plus bright original high polish blue finish. The frame
retains 98% plus of the attractive age darkened original silver plating. The grips are also
excellent with some minor handling marks and nearly all of the original varnish remaining. Mechanically excellent.

antique ivory grips. The Model
No. 1 3rd Issue Revolver was
manufactured by S&W from
1868 to 1881. Offered here is
an example with new York style
engraving (floral scrollwork
on a punch dot background,
double line and dot motifs,
and checkerboard patterns).
The barrel rib has the standard
one-line S&W legend. Both grip panels are hand numbered to the gun. Matching assembly marks appear on the grip frame, cylinder, and barrel. The period partitioned case contains a key and box of U.S. Cartridge Co. 22 RF cartridges (approximately 40 rounds).
CONDITION: Fine. The barrel and frame retain 95% period retailer nickel finish. Initials lightly marked on front strap. The cylinder and hammer retain slight traces of original gold plating. The slightly undersized grips are very fine with a few typical age lines at the screw escutcheons, minimal handling marks, and attractive color. Mechanically excellent. The case and box of cartridges are both fine with minor handling/storage marks and typical high spot wear on the lining. Estimate: 2,250 - 3,500

New York Engraved Smith & Wesson
Model No. 1 Third Issue Revolver with
Rare Short Barrel and Pearl Grips - Serial no. 77042, 22
RF cal., 2 11/16 inch solid rib bbl., nickel finish, pearl grips. The Model
No. 1 3rd Issue Revolver was manufactured by S&W from 1868 to 1881.
Offered here is an example with the scarce 2 11/16 short barrel (standard length was 3
3/16 inches), pearl grips and attractive New York floral scroll engraving on a punch dot
background. The left side of the barrel has the one-line S&W legend as is correct on short
barrels. Matching assembly marks appear on the grip frame, cylinder, and barrel.
CONDITION: Very fine. The barrel retains 95% period retailer applied nickel plating, the frame retains 80%
nickel plating and the cylinder retains traces of nickel plating in the flutes with a smooth gray patina
on the balance. The engraving is crisp. The grips are also very fine with a small chip at the top of the right panel, otherwise attractive fiery colors.
