CONDITION: Exceptionally fine. The vivid original case colors on this revolver are phenomenal and 95% remain. The grip frame also retains 95% of the original silver plating which now displays an attractive aged untouched patina. The barrel retains 80% plus of the original blue finish while the cylinder exhibits a smooth gray patina and distinct roll-scene and also has mostly complete safety pins. The grip has rub wear at the top from mounting the shoulder stock but otherwise has the vast majority of the original glossy finish and is very fine with only minor age and storage related wear. The shoulder stock is likewise very fine with nearly all of the original age darkened silver plating remaining, nice figure in the wood, nearly all of the finish remaining on the excellent wood, and light storage marks. Mechanically excellent. The case and accessories are very fine with mostly minor age and storage related wear. The excellent flask is particularly nice and has nearly all of the finish and only light dings and storage marks. This is a very scarce and highly desirable Colt Model 1851 Navy revolver with matching shoulder stock, case, and accessories. The whole set is in impressive condition and will certainly make a statement in any Colt collection.
Provenance: The Norm Vegely Collection.
