72 Open Top Revolver -
Serial no. 2570, 44 RF cal., 7 1/2 inch round bbl., nickel finish, walnut
grips. An estimated 7,000 Colt “Open Top” revolvers were manufactured in 1872-

line patent dates marking. Matching full serial numbers are stamped on the frame, barrel, both grip straps and cylinder.
CONDITION: Fine. The revolver retains 70% of the period retailer applied nickel plating with the balance a smooth gray patina. Most of the cylinder scene remains. The reoiled grip is very good with high edge wear, filled blemishes visible on the bottom and some minor pressure dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent.

nickel finish and wears a set of grips featuring a wonderful relief carved U.S. eagle/shield on the left side.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, retaining 85% plus original nickel plating with some loss on the cylinder, recoil shield and loading gate, otherwise some scattered high edge wear and handling marks. Nearly all of the cylinder scene remains. The grip is very fine with a repair on the lower left side, typical age lines, highly attractive color, and crisp relief carved eagle. Firing pin is absent.
