Attractive Factory Engraved American Standard Tool Co. Spur Trigger Pocket Revolver - Serial no. 6035, 22 RF cal., 3 1/8 inch solid rib bbl., nickel/silver finish, pearl grips. Manufactured c. 1861-1873 as a very close copy of the Manhattan pocket revolver and the Smith & Wesson First Model revolver. This example features 75% plus coverage factory floral scroll engraving.
CONDITION: Good, retains traces of the original nickel and silver finishes in sheltered areas with the balance having thinned to
either a smooth grey patina or attractively aged brass and mostly crisp engraving overall. The grips are very good with
a few scattered hairline age cracks and light handling marks. Mechanically needs
adjustment as the hammer does not hold at full cock.

Factory Engraved Colt Etched Panel New Line .22 Spur Trigger Revolver with Pearl Grips - Serial no. 9801, 22 RF cal., 2 1/4 inch slab sided bbl., blue/silver finish, pearl grips. Manufactured in 1875 with 50% plus coverage floral scroll engraving.
CONDITION: Very good, retains traces of the original blue and silver finishes with the balance having thinned to either a smooth grey patina or an attractively aged brass, a few scattered spots of light surface pitting, well-defined etched panel, and crisp engraving. The grips are fine with a few minor chips absent and a couple hairline age cracks. Mechanically excellent.

Engraved Gold Plated Deringer .32 Caliber Pocket Revolver with Checkered Antique Ivory Grip - Serial no. 87, 32 RF cal., 3 1/2 inch solid rib bbl., blue/gold
finish, antique ivory grips. One of around 4,000 of these .32 caliber pocket revolvers manufactured in 1874-1879. The barrel, cylinder, and frame have high quality extensive scroll engraving along with some other accents (appears to be the work of Master Engraver L.D. Nimschke). The barrel is marked “DERINGER PHILADA.” The barrel and cylinder appear to have been blued, while the frame had a gilt finish.
CONDITION: Very good, retains traces of the original blue and gilt finishes with the balance having thinned to either a smooth grey/plum patina
or an attractively aged brass and crisp engraving
overall. The grips are fine with some mild
wear, a few hairline age cracks, and mostly well-defined checkering. The barrel to frame fit is slightly loose, otherwise mechanically
fine.

LOT 3243
Very Scarce Engraved Gold Plated Eben T. Starr Second Model Four Barrel Pepperbox - Serial no. 52, 32 RF cal., 3 inch fluted bbl., gold/silver finish, pearl grips. Produced between 1864 and 1869 by Merrill Patent Firearms Company, using Eben T. Starr’s patent. This example is a rare Second Model with a flat standing breech, and both the barrel release spring and firing pin retaining spring visible on the right of the frame. Only approximately 500
of the First through Third Models were manufactured. It has 75% plus coverage floral engraving throughout. It appears to have been entirely gilt finished on top of silver plating.
CONDITION: Fine, retains half of the original gilt finish with the
balance having thinned to reveal either an attractively aged base silver plating, brass, or grey patina, a few scattered patches of
light pitting, and crisp engraving. The grips are very good with a few scattered light edge chips and handling
marks. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 2,500 - 4,000

Scarce Engraved C. H.
Ballard & Co. Single Shot .41 Caliber
Derringer Pistol - Serial no. 3604, 41 RF cal., 2 7/8
inch part octagon bbl., silver finish, pearl grips.
Manufactured circa 1870, with production
numbers estimated at only a few thousand. The
early production brass frame features flourishes
of floral scroll engraving, which continue onto
the barrel. The serial number, “3604”, is marked
on the top of the frame and the bottom of the
barrel where they meet. The left of the grip frame
and inside the left grip are marked “VIII”, with “VII” on the
right in the same places.
CONDITION: Fine, retains 40% of the period retailer applied silver plated finish with the balance having thinned to either a smooth grey patina or an attractively aged brass, some scattered patches of light surface pitting, and mostly crisp engraving. The grips
are also fine with some scattered light handling marks. Mechanically excellent.

Factory Engraved C. Sharps & Co. Model 1A Pepperbox Pistol - Serial no. 8217, 30 RF cal., 3
inch fluted bbl., blue/silver finish, gutta percha
grips. Manufactured 1859 to 1874. It has 75% plus coverage factory floral scroll engraving.
CONDITION: Very good, retaining faint traces of
the original silver finish with the balance having thinned to a smooth grey or attractively aged
brass and mostly crisp engraving overall. The grips are good with moderate wear and a few hairline age cracks/ chips. Mechanically fine.
