Exceptional First Year Production, Factory Engraved Silver Plated, London Agency Cased Colt House Model “Cloverleaf” Spur Trigger Revolver - Serial
no. 954, 41 RF cal., 3 inch round bbl., blue/silver finish, rosewood grips. Manufactured in 1871, the first year
of production. The top of the barrel has the standard two-line address flanked by Maltese crosses and the chambers of the cylinder and lower left of the barrel have London proofs. The matching serial number is marked on the butt, bottom of the barrel, and in ink inside each grip panel. The sides of the silver plated frame and top of the back strap have flourishes of nicely executed floral scroll engraving, which were likely done by a British retailer Includes an oak case with Colt London Agency interior label, cleaning rod, key, and .41 RF cartridges. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, retains 95% plus
of the original high polish blue finish and 80% of
the attractively aged silver finish, with the balance mostly an nicely aged brass, and the engraving
crisp. The grips are excellent with a few scattered minor handling marks and retaining almost all of
the varnish. Mechanically excellent. The case is very fine with some scattered light handling/storage marks. Provenance: The George S. Lewis Jr. Collection. Estimate: 9,500 - 14,000
