Philadelphia Ordnance MP40 Submachine Gun, Class III/NFA Fully Transferable Machine Gun - Serial no. 86005MP40, 9 mm
cal., 10 inch round bbl., blue finish, metal stock.
The receiver was manufactured by Philadelphia Ordnance of Oreland, Pennsylvania, an extremely close copy of the German MP40 submachine gun, with an American-made tubular receiver and a combination
of commercial and military surplus German World War II components. Blade front and two leaf rear sights, with the manufacturer address on the underside of the receiver and a
“bnz.42” mark on top of the socket. The internals show minor
differences, with the firing pin being a permanent part of the bolt instead of being part of the recoil spring assembly. Fitted with a set of bakelite panels on the trigger assembly, underfolding stock, leather sling and a canvas case. CONDITION: Very fine, with 90% plus refurbished blue finish, showing mild edge wear and handling marks overall. The bakelite panels show some scuffing and scratching, and the sling has some mild cracks. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479. Estimate: 12,000 - 17,000
