magnificent decoration consisting of outstanding highly detailed banknote style engraved game scenes surrounded by rich flowering scrollwork sitting atop a highly contrasting matted background which extends to the trigger guard, the toplever which has a gold inlaid “1”, and both tangs, the bottom of which has the serial number inlaid in gold. The action is signed “HOLLAND & HOLLAND 1835-1985” on both sides representing the company’s sesquicentennial. The left lockplate displays a pair of woodcocks in flight over a barren winter forest scenes, the right lockplate has a pair of rooster pheasants flushing from a corn field, and the underside shows the profile bust of a handsome setter. The gun is signed by two artists: first the setter scene is signed at the lower right “McDuff ”, and the triggerplate is signed “Ph. Grifnee” for the highly regarded and world renowned late Master Engraver Philippe Grifnee.

Blued steel barrels with a single nickel bead sight on the smooth concave solid rib which is marked “Model De Luxe” along with a nicely border engraved gold inlaid “1” at the base and “HOLLAND & HOLLAND” and “33. BRUTON STREET. LONDON.” address marked on the right
