stamped “36085” with matching number on the butt end of the stock and partial matching number “085” on the inside of the buttplate.
CONDITION: Fine. 80% original blue remains on the barrel with slightly lightened markings, scattered small dings and
scratches, and some mild brown patina. The magazine tube has thinned to an overall artificial brown patina. The receiver, trigger guard, and buttplate have 95% period non-factory nickel plated finish remaining with some scattered pitting visible, small scratches and nicks, and well defined markings. The refinished wood is very fine with attractive figure, sharp recut checkering, and some small dings. Mechanically excellent.

Paula Biesen Signed, Game Panel Scene Engraved, and
Gold Inlaid Winchester Model 61 Slide Action Rifle - Serial no. 201846, 22 S L LR cal., 24 inch round bbl., blue/gold finish, fancy carved walnut stock. Manufactured in 1953 and subsequently elaborately custom embellished by respected engraver Paula Biesen. Blued barrel with a
beaded blade front sight, elevation
adjustable rear sight, single gold band at the muzzle, gold plated magazine tube hangers and follower head, and a one inch
wedge of scroll engraving at the breech bordered in gold with gold filled Winchester “WP” proof. The receiver is blued with beautifully cut floral scroll engraving over a matted
background, gold inlaid serial number, and gold line accents and borders surrounding game scenes depicting a pair of squirrels on a branch on the left and a trio of rabbits in a field on the right. The scenes are cut in fine semi-relief gold inlay with the “P/B” signature on the
right. Highly figured oak leaf carved and checkered forend and pistol grip stock with Winchester hard rubber grip cap and buttplate.
CONDITION: Very fine as beautifully custom embellished overall, retaining 99% blue and gold finishes with minor handling evidence and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent.
