Jim Lowe Signed Panel Scene Master Engraved Deluxe Style Winchester
Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle in .50 Express - Serial no. 80173, 50 express cal., 22
inch round bbl., blue/casehardened finish, fancy carved walnut stock. This stunning Winchester Model 1886 was manufactured in 1893 and was later updated and
elaborately custom embellished by Master Engraver Jim Lowe of Virginia. He worked
for the famous New York City based luxury jewelry and specialty retailer Tiffany & Co. in addition to his independent work as a firearms engraver. His “J. LOWE” signature is just behind
the trigger. The rifle features stunning Winchester factory style engraving including a highly detailed scene of a grizzly bear on the prowl in
a panel scene on the left side of the frame. Most of the remaining engraving consists of scroll patterns and decorative borders. The modern replacement barrel has a block mounted
ghost ring front sight, three-leaf “express” rear sight, “-MANUFACTURED BY THE-/-WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A.-” marked ahead of the rear sight, and “50 EX” marked on top at the breech. The upper tang has the model designation, and the patent marking and serial number are on the lower tang. The rifle is equipped with a plain trigger, half-magazine, carbine style forearm and barrel band, fancy grade walnut pistol grip stock with carbine buttplate, and style “E” checkering.
CONDITION: Very fine as professionally engraved/upgraded to current configuration with crisp engraving, 85% plus blue finish remaining, 98% plus of the vibrant case colors remaining, and generally minor overall wear. The wood is also very fine and has crisp checkering, minor flakes and chips at the edges of the wrist, smooth finish, and very attractive figure on the butt. Mechanically fine.

Attractive Game Scene Engraved Winchester Deluxe Style Model 1894 Lever Action Rifle - Serial no. 54991, 30 WCF cal., 26 inch part octagon bbl., blue finish, highly figured checkered walnut stock. Manufactured in 1899 and subsequently custom engraved in the 20th
century. The receiver has a fine engraving pattern stylized after the Winchester no. 6 engraving with scrollwork, borders, and game scenes in oval panels decorating the receiver. The left side features a big horn ram, and the right side
features a mule deer. The rifle is fitted with a beaded blade Marble No. 6 front sight, an elevation adjustable rear sight, a half octagon barrel stamped
with the two-line address, two-line nickel steel marking and “30 W.C.F.”, button magazine, and sling swivel studs mounted on the underside of the forend
cap and buttstock. The upper tang is stamped with the three-line model/patent marking. It is mounted with highly figured and checkered walnut forearm and pistol grip stock. The pistol grip has a Winchester hard rubber grip cap, and the stock has a crescent buttplate.
CONDITION: Very fine as professionally embellished and restored, retaining 99% plus of the blue and casehardened finishes with limited handling marks. The wood is very fine with a few minor handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
