 inscribed to a Texas
cattleman, displaying all
the character of a sidearm
that has spent a lifetime
out West. The revolver retains 30%
original nickel plating in and around the
sheltered areas, otherwise having a smooth gray patina associated with a well traveled sidearm. The engraving is crisp overall. The grips are very fine with slight chipping at the edges and highly attractive fiery colors. The inscription is clear with almost half of the black enamel remaining. This is a special opportunity to own a historic “golden age” and Western shipped antique .44 WCF SAA owned by a noted Texas cattleman.
Estimate: 27,500 - 50,000

Attractive Left Handed Tooled Holster
Rig and Gun/Money Belt -
This attractive Western holster
rig is a rare example of one set
up for a left handed shooter. The belt has a
single row of cartridge loops that appear to be intended
for .44-40 cartridges and it is marked “94X” near the nickeled
buckle. There is a opening in the end of the belt near the buckle
for stashing money or other valuables. It measures 41 inches overall.
The holster is for a short, 4 3/4 inch Single Action Army Revolver and has basket weave pattern tooling covering nearly all of the outer surface of the body. CONDITION: Both items are fine showing generally mild to moderate wear, some light age related cracking, and nearly all of the stitching
remaining tight. A rare, saddle shop quality, left handed western holster rig! Estimate: 1,500 - 2,500

The revolver was featured in Bill Welch articles “Died a Texan: A Man, a Ghost, and a Colt SAA,” published in the fall 2005 issue of The Texas Gun Collector, and Bill Welch’s article “The Golden Age Colt Single Actions” published in the spring 2020 issues of The Texas Gun Collector. Bill
Welch speculated that this SAA was obtained by Shuford in Kansas City, and a Kansas City jeweler inscribed the grips. Consignor research related to Shuford is included. The Colt Single Action Army Revolver is arguably the most iconic handgun of Americana. In the hands of ranchers, cavalrymen, Native Americans, lawmen, and outlaws, the Peacemaker’s legacy was forged out in the hostile American West. Its association with the Wild West has made it one of the most collectible American handguns. The limited factory engraved guns and especially the etched panel are especially sought after. As one owned by a famed Texas cattleman, this SAA is a physical reminder of a bygone era that is deeply entrenched in the American spirit.
CONDITION: Very good plus as a factory engraved antique Colt Frontier Six Shooter revolver
