Presentation Cased Pair of Factory Engraved, Silver Plated Colt Third Model “Thuer” Derringers -A) Factory Engraved Colt Third Model “Thuer” Derringer - Serial no. E7058, 41
RF cal., 2 1/2 inch round bbl., silver finish, ebony grips. Manufacturing began in 1870. This pair are both
of the early production type
with “high spur” hammers and
no bolster on the front lower
frame. Both have the standard
italic Colt marking on top of the barrel and small British proofs on
the bottom. The serial numbers marked on the left side of the grip frames along with “E”, signifying factory engraving, and both grip panels on both pistols are faintly numbered to the respective guns with ink. Both pistols features 75% plus coverage factory floral scroll engraving and full silver finishes.
The two are serialized only three numbers apart which, along with the matching engraving, indicates these two were almost certainly a factory pair. Includes a leather wrapped hard case fitted for both pistols, cleaning rod, and a key.
CONDITION: Fine, retains 65% plus
of the original silver finish showing mostly bright with the balance having thinned to either a smooth grey patina or an attractively aged brass and some scattered patches
of light spotting. The grips are
very fine with a few scattered light handling marks. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine with
some mild handling/storage wear.

plus of the original silver finish, showing an attractive lightly aged patina, and the balance having thinned to either a smooth grey patina or attractively aged brass,
and a few scattered patches of
light oxidation. The grips are very fine with a few scattered very light handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
