Documented Colt London Agency Shipped Colt Burgess Lever Action Rifle with Factory Letter - Serial no. 1907, 44-40 cal., 25 1/2 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. The included factory letter lists this rifle in .44-40, with a 25 1/2 inch round barrel, blue finish, and wood
and as one of five in a shipment to Colt’s London Agency on October 4, 1883. The barrel has a nickel silver blade front sight, the two-line address and patent marking ahead of the adjustable sporting rear sight, London proofs on the upper left at the breech, the serial number and a small “P” on the lower tang, the Rampant Colt trademark on the left, and smooth rifle stock and buttstock with crescent buttplate.
CONDITION: Very good plus with 20% original blue finish overall, most noticeable on the forend cap and protected
areas of the frame with the balance an attractive mostly dark brown patina, light oxidation and pitting, and general
minor scratches and marks. The wood is fine and has moderate handling wear, some flakes at the edges, and scattered dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent. A solid representative example of a desirable Colt Burgess lever action rifle!

Grade 2 Double Barrel Shotgun Two Barrel Set with Factory Letter -
Serial no. 1632, 10 gauge, 32 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Blued Damascus steel barrels with a single bead sight on the smooth solid rib which bears the Colt address, single band of engraving at either breech, choke constrictions of .019/.040 inches, and chambers measured 2 7/8 inches with single extractor. The casehardened boxlock action displays a
pair of setters flushing quail on the left, a pointer and a pair of woodcocks on the right, and stylized “PATENTED” marking
on the underside. The gun features double triggers and a tang mounted automatic safety switch. Attractively figured, multi-point

checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings and ebony tip inlay, and round knob pistol grip stock with checkered teardrop flats, “O. L. Hittle” on silver plaque, and hard rubber buttplate. Factory letter states: 10 gauge, 32 inch barrels, blue, wood, 10 lbs. 4 oz., factory engraved grade 2 valued at $10.00, extra set of
30 inch barrels, and shipped to Samuel Walker on March 31, 1887. Included is a second set matching 30 inch barrels with choke constrictions of .008/.018 inches. Stock measurements: 1
15/16 inch drop at comb; 3 1/16 inch drop at heel; 13 inch length of pull; weight 10 lbs. 5 oz.
CONDITION: Very fine, showing an attractive brown patina and 85% original patterns on the Damascus, 30% original case colors on the action in the protected areas, and light handling evidence. The wood is fine with numerous small dings and scratches, a few pressure marks, and crisp checkering. The extra barrel set is very good. Mechanically excellent.

Lightning Slide Action Rifle in .40-60-260 Caliber with Factory Letter - Serial no. 223, 40-60-260 cal., 28 inch octagon bbl., blue finish, walnut stock.
The factory letter confirms this rifle in .40-60-260 with a 28 inch octagon barrel, blue finish, and wood stock and confirms it was one of two guns of this type
shipped to C. Alsdorf & Son in Lansing, Michigan, on August 8, 1887. 1887 was the first year for these large frame “express rifles” C. Alsdorf & Son was a drug store in Lansing in the late 19th
century ran by Cyrus Alsdorf (1825-1895) and his son Fred M. Alsdorf (1854-1913). An order of two identical rifles may reflect rifles purchased for the father and son. The rifle has a nickel silver “Rocky Mountain” blade front sight, adjustable sporting rear sight, tang mounted peep sight, the two-line address and patent marking on top of
the barrel, “40-60-260” on the upper left flat at the breech, the three digit serial number on the lower tang, the Rampant Colt trademark on
the left, checkered slide handle, and smooth rifle stock with crescent buttplate.
CONDITION: Fine with 40% original blue finish, gray and brown patina on the balance, some patches of minor pitting, and general mild overall wear. The wood is very good and has crisp checkering on the slide handle, some slivers absent from the edges of the wrist, notches from the peep sight resting against the comb, and minor scratches and dings. Mechanically excellent.
