Exceptional Auto-Ordnance/Savage Model 1928 Thompson Submachine Gun, Class III/NFA C&R Fully Transferable Machine Gun with FBI Style Case, Extra Magazines and Accessories - Serial no. S-41445, 45 ACP cal., 10 1/2 inch fluted bbl., blue/phosphate finish, walnut stock. Manufactured by Auto-Ordnance using a number of “S” marked components, including the receiver and barrel. Blade front sight on the Cutts-marked compensator and folding ladder rear sight, with the signature ribbing on
the rear of the barrel, dual pistol grips, and a quick detach buttstock. The model and caliber markings are present on the left side of the frame, with the Auto-Ordnance address and patent dates on the right. The trigger housing is numbered to match the receiver, with checkered selector and safety switches. The internals are 1928 pattern,
with the thin, light recoil spring, Blish lock, and oiler. Included with the Thompson are two 50-round “Type L” drums, one 10-round “Type X” drum, five stick magazines (eight magazines total), an extra recoil spring, a black
FBI style hardcase, and two books about the Thompson submachine gun by Roger A. Cox.
CONDITION: Excellent. The barrel shows 98% original high polish blue finish, with 80% gray phosphate finish on the receiver and trigger housing, with mild wear and handling marks concentrated on the phosphate components. The stock is very good, with a number of dents and scuffs. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a “Curios or Relic” as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479.
