American Arms International American 180 M2
Submachine Gun, Class III/NFA Fully Transferable Machine
Gun - Serial no. D01094, 22 LR cal., 16 3/4 inch fluted bbl., anodized/blue finish, synthetic stock. With aesthetic and
mechanical parallels to both the U.S. Thompson submachine gun and weapons like the Lewis Gun, the American 180 M2 uses a top
mounted spring loaded “platter” magazine to feed an open bolt selective fire mechanism, with aluminum receiver construction. Capable of a
1200 RPM cyclic rate, the low recoil of the 22LR cartridge makes for a weapon that’s far easier to control (and far easier to feed, cost wise) than many
automatic weapons. The 180 was evaluated by the U.S. Army for use in close combat; while unsuitable for general infantry use, within “knife fighting
range” the 180’s extreme precision would allow multiple rounds to bore through a single point of armor or structure, giving a penetrating power beyond
what one would expect from the humble Long Rifle cartridge. Blade front and adjustable peep rear sights, with a set of protective wings and cooling
fins on the barrel, non-reciprocating charging handle, and a smooth synthetic forearm, pistol grip and detachable buttstock. Included with the lot are four
magazines, one blued steel (with spring unit) and three clear plastic (sans spring units). The top receiver cover is absent.
CONDITION: Very fine, incomplete, with 90% plus original blue finish, showing light handling marks and edge wear overall, along with a few light scratches on the furniture. The steel magazine has a damaged spring catch, and the plastic magazines are a bit ill fitting. Cannot be fired without top cover, but mechanically appears to be in good order. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479.
bolt blowback-operated submachine gun, the Reising Model 50 saw action with the U.S. Marines in the Pacific as a
substitute for the M1 Thompson, though they found their best success as defensive weapons for war-essential industries
and as patrol carbines for American police forces. Blade front and elevation adjustable peep rear sights, with a flash hider/ muzzle brake, cooling fins on the barrel, three-line Worcester address near the ejection port, and three-position selector/
safety on the right side. Smooth pistol grip stock with a cocking lever on the underside, and a lightly ribbed buttplate. The buttplate is stamped “NPD,” possibly a police department marking. An extra magazine is included.
CONDITION: Very fine, with 70% of the original blue finish, showing areas of gray patina on the barrel and receiver, bright
edge wear, and mild spotting and handling marks. The stock is fine, with a number of light external and heavier internal
scuffs. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a “Curios or Relic” as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479.
