CONDITION: Excellent plus, nearly as issued, retains 99% original blue finish on the barrel with a few minor handling marks. 99% vivid original case colors remain on the lock, and 98% vivid original case colors on the remaining components. The stock is also excellent plus with attractive original raised grains, absolutely distinct edges, a few minor handling marks, and an exceptionally crisp cartouche and stampings. Mechanically excellent. This absolutely stunning example of a scarce Civil War era Palmer carbine, a significant piece in the development of military arms as well as firearms in general, would make an excellent addition to any U.S. Martial collection! CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 95% plus original blue finish on the barrel, 90%
plus vibrant original case colors on the frame, hammer, lever latch and buttplate with
some slight fading on the lock, 99% bright original niter blue finish on the upper tang and breech block, 60% plus bright original niter blue finish on the lever and 40% plus original niter blue finish on the lower tang. The wood is also excellent with attractive original raised grains and rich oil finish, a few dents and handling marks, a few minor chips on the left edge of the forend, distinct edges, and exceptionally crisp cartouches. Mechanically excellent. This excellent Civil War Burnside carbine appears to have seen little, if any, use at all and would make an excellent addition to any U.S. martial collection!
