Elaborately Gold Damascene Exhibition Quality Inscribed Beistegui Hermanos Libia Semi-Automatic Vest Pocket Pistol with Pearl Grips and Presentation Case - Serial no. 36166, 6.35 mm auto cal., 1 3/4
inch round bbl., blue/gold damascene finish, pearl grips. This elaborately embellished Spanish vest pocket pistol features a full gold Damascened finish with contrasting blued under layer, full coverage floral and scroll patterns with interwoven fantasy beasts including dragons, as well as gold inlaid floral blooms, gold plated small parts, American eagle on the rear of the frame, and large blue panel on top left of the slide with the gold inlaid inscription “HORACE D. REEVE”. There is a Horace D. Reeve listed in the 1911 edition of the “Poor’s Manual of Industrials” as a member of the board of directors for the Pennsylvania Keystone Coal Co. The pistol is fitted with a set of smooth pearl grips and matching gold plated magazine. Includes burgundy leatherette Beistegui Hermanos presentation case with blue cloth interior.
CONDITION: Excellent with 98% plus original gold Damascene and blue finish, some light slide retraction marks, and small handling marks. The grips are also excellent. Mechanically excellent. The presentation case is very fine with general storage wear and some mild discoloration on the interior. An absolutely stunning semi-automatic pistol that shows exquisite artistry in the fine and delicate art form of Damascening!
