Civil War Era Colt Model 1851 Navy Percussion Revolver - Serial no. 164440, 36 cal., 7 1/2 inch octagon bbl., blue/ casehardened/silver finish, walnut grips. The serial number dates to 1863. It features a brass cone front sight, the one-line New York address, double stamped “COLTS/PATENT” marking on the frame, Navy cylinder scene, “36 CAL” on the left side of the trigger guard, correctly unnumbered loading lever, “64440” on the wedge, “0175” on the replacement arbor pin, “4440” on the cylinder and hand marked inside the back strap mortise of the grip, and “16440” on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, and back strap (grip straps and barrel possibly factory error overstrikes). CONDITION: Fine with 30% factory blue finish, 60% factory refurbished case colors, traces of silver plating, aged patina on the brass grip straps, mix of gray and brown patina on the balance of the iron, some minor pitting, and generally mild wear overall. The grip is also fine and has some dings and scratches, strong varnish, a small repaired flake at the toe, and mild edge wear. Mechanically fine. Estimate: 3,000 - 4,500 LOT 3113 Very Fine Civil War Era Colt Model 1849 Pocket Percussion Revolver - Serial no. 235500, 31 cal., 5 inch octagon bbl., blue/casehardened/silver finish, walnut grips. Manufactured in 1863. The barrel has the one-line New York address. “COLTS/PATENT” stamped on the left of the frame. The cylinder has the stagecoach hold up scene. Matching full or partial serial numbers appear on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, butt, cylinder, loading lever, arbor pin, and wedge. The Model 1849 Pocket was the most popular of all of Colt’s percussion revolvers. They would certainly have been more convenient for those needing some personal protection in the gold fields and saloons of the West as well as the crowded and crime riddled streets of the large cities in the East compared to the larger Colt Dragoon revolvers or mid-sized Model 1851 Navy and definitely packed more firepower than many of the single and double shot pocket pistols of the day. During the Civil War, many were carried as personal sidearms. CONDITION: Very fine, retains 60% plus original bright blue finish on the barrel and cylinder with some scattered light flaking and smooth brown patina on the balance, an exceptionally crisp cylinder scene with light cylinder drag line, and distinct markings and edges in the metal overall. 95% vivid original case colors remain on the frame and hammer with 60% original case colors on the loading lever, and 75% plus original bright silver finish remains on the trigger guard and back strap with some light flaking concentrated on the back strap and butt. Grip is excellent with defined edges, a few light handling marks, and rich original varnish finish. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 2,250 - 3,500

silver finish, walnut grips.
Manufactured in 1856 with
a brass cone front sight,
“{ADDRESS SAML COLT/NEW
YORK CITY}” on the barrel, “2” on
the lower left side of the barrel
lug, standard patent markings
and stagecoach scene, “X” on
the left side of the trigger guard
at the rear, and all matching
serial numbers, including in the
back strap mortise of the grip.
It comes in a wood presentation case with lead bullet/balls, a double
sided eagle powder flask, cap tin, and Colt patent bullet mold. The key
is stuck in the lock.
CONDITION: Fine with 50% original blue finish on the barrel, gray and brown patina on the cylinder, 40% original case colors, 70% original silver plating on the grip straps, aged patinas on the silver and exposed brass, legible markings and cylinder scene, and mild overall wear including some light oxidation/pitting. The grip is also fine and has strong original varnished finish, light scratches and dings, and minor edge wear. Mechanically fine. The relined case has a loose bottom; otherwise; it and the accessories are very good.

Colt Model 1849 Pocket Percussion Revolver with Holster - Serial no. 124039, 31 cal., 4 inch octagon bbl., blue/casehardened/silver finish, walnut grips. Manufactured in 1856. The barrel has the two-line New York address. “COLTS/ PATENT” stamped on the left of the frame. The cylinder has the stagecoach hold up scene. Matching full or partial serial numbers appear on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, butt, cylinder, loading lever, arbor pin, and wedge. The Model 1849 Pocket was the most popular of all of Colt’s percussion revolvers. CONDITION: Fine, retains 50% original bright blue finish concentrated on the barrel with the cylinder turned to a smooth gray patina. 30% of original case colors are visible on the right of the frame with smooth gray patina on the balance of the casehardened surfaces. 80% original silver finish remains on trigger guard and back strap with some light flaking and a few areas of light bubbling. Grip is very fine with most of the original varnish, some very light crazing along the bottom edges and some light handling marks. Mechanically fine. Included leather holster is very good. L. Ghaye Brevete Copy of a Colt Model 1851 Navy Percussion Revolver - Serial no. 14251, 36 percussion cal., 7 1/2 inch octagon bbl., blue/casehardened/silver finish, walnut grips. Lambert Ghaye was active in Liege in the 1850s to early 1870s. This revolver has a brass post front sight, “COLT/PATENT” on the top of the barrel at the breech,

Liege proofmarks, matching serial numbers on the barrel, frame, and trigger guard; “13” on the cylinder along with an Indian fight scene and “COLTS PATENT,”“98” on the back strap, and a smooth grip. The overall design is
PP” stamps on the barrel, frame, and cylinder; “LG” stamps on the barrel and cylinder at the breech,
 fairly similar to the Model 1851 Navy but with some aspects simplified and a different style of rifling. CONDITION: Fine. 50% plus of the original blue finish remains on the barrel and cylinder. The loading lever retains 25% plus of the fading original case colors, the hammer retains 50%, and the frame retains traces. The balance displays a gray-brown patina. The grip frame has silver plating under the grip, but the visible surfaces display aged patina. The butt has removable “8B” inventory labels. It is mechanically fine. Estimate: 1,800 - 2,750 LOT 3117 Excellent Belgian Colt Brevete “Brooklyn Bridge” Model 1849 Pocket Percussion Revolver - Serial no. 15, 36 cal., 4 inch octagon bbl., blue/casehardened/silver finish, walnut grips. “Brooklyn Bridge” revolvers similar to this example are described in “Colt Brevete Revolvers” by Marcot and Paxton on p. 298-307. They are so-named due to the suspension bridge scene often rollmarked on the cylinder, which collectors have since dubbed the Brooklyn Bridge. The top of the barrel is marked “ADDRESS COL SAML NEW MODEL U.S. PATENTED” with the typical “crossed keys” at either end and the caliber is listed as “CAL.38” on the left of the frame. The matching serial number “15” is on the left of the front and back strap and inside both grips. Belgian proofs are visible on the right of the frame and it is fitted with smooth hardwood grips. CONDITION: Excellent, retains 90% plus of the original blue finish and 97% plus of both the vibrate original case colors and silver plating with a few scattered patches thinning to mostly a smooth grey patina, most noticeably on the upper right of the barrel. The grips are also excellent with a few scattered light handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 1,600 - 2,500
