Highly Attractive Factory Class “B”
Engraved Colt Mk. IV Series 70 Gold Cup
National Match Semi-Automatic Pistol with
Case and Factory Letter - Serial no. 70N44713, 45 ACP cal., 5 inch
round bbl., Royal Blue finish, walnut grips. Manufactured in 1978, this
is a highly attractive example of a factory engraved Colt Mk. IV Series 70
Gold Cup National Match pistol with a factory case. The included factory
letter lists the pistol in .45 ACP with a 5 inch barrel, Royal Blue finish, grips
not listed, and factory Class “B” scroll engraving when shipped to Sports
Inc. in Lewiston, Montana, on 14 July 1978, as the only gun of its type in
the shipment on Colt factory order number 10695. The engraving features
beautifully executed flourishes of arabesque scrollwork on about a quarter of
the left and right surfaces of the pistol, which also show the high polish “Royal
Blue” finish, while the upper and lower surfaces have an anti-glare, matte blue
finish. The left side of the slide has the series, model, and caliber markings, while
the right side has the Gold Cup National Match marking. The one-line address is
on the right rear of the frame along with the serial number. The left of the trigger guard has Colt inspection/proof marks, and the right is marked “B”. The left side of the grip frame under the grip is marked “COLT ENG.” It is fitted with
a Patridge blade front sight, adjustable Elliason notch rear sight, a pair of checkered walnut grips with Colt medallions, and a full-blue magazine with “COLT/.45 AUTO.” on the base. Includes a leatherette wrapped Colt case.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 98% plus of the original Royal Blue finish with some very light slide retraction marks and otherwise only the slightest handling marks and crisp engraving. The grips are also excellent with only the
slightest handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The case is excellent with some light handling/storage evidence. A very attractive, factory engraved Colt Gold Cup National Match!

Engraved Colt Service Model Ace
Semi-Automatic Pistol with Case and
Factory Letter - Serial no. 40705B70, 22
LR cal., 5 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. Manufactured
in 1986. The included factory letter confirms this pistols
configuration, including a 5 inch barrel in .22 Long Rifle caliber, blue
finish, type of grips not listed, and Class “B” standard level factory
scroll engraving (engraver’s name not listed), when sent as the only
pistol of its type in a shipment to Cherry’s Sporting Goods at 2703
High point Road in Greensboro, North Carolina, on May 23, 1986, under
Colt Custom Shop Order #1717. Features fixed Patridge blade front and
adjustable notch rear sights, the model, caliber, and “ACE” designation
on the left of the slide followed by a Rampant Colt with “ACE” repeated on the right side, the one-line Colt address and serial number on the
right of the frame, Colt factory “triangle/VP” and “V” proofs on the left side of the trigger guard and “B” on the right side, “COLT ENG.” marked on the left side of the grip frame under the panel, along
with Class “B” factory floral scroll engraving with punch-dot background covering approximately 50% of the frame and slide. Fitted with a pair of checkered walnut grips with gold Rampant Colt
medallion inserts and a blued magazine marked with a Rampant Colt and “COLT/.22 L.R.” on the base. Includes a Colt Custom Shop leatherette presentation case.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue finish with limited minor handling evidence, clear markings, along with crisp engraving and grip checkering. Mechanically excellent. The case is excellent. Overall a
spectacular example of a Colt Service Model Ace pistol with factory class “B” engraving, Colt Custom Shop case, and the factory letter!
