As noted, this HK53 was made in 1984, with the
“IE” date code and standard model, caliber and
importer markings on the sides of the magazine
well. Overall configuration as “A2” pattern, with
fixed buttstock and a textured right handed
pistol grip, but with the included upgrade of a
Knight’s Armament RAS triple rail adapter system
forearm and three Knight’s rail cover panels. The
receiver is in factory original “pin” configuration,
and fitted with a threaded barrel marked “HJC”
and the traditional hooded post front and four-
position drum rear sights. The trigger housing
and pack are both “pin” pattern, the former with
a right-handed selector and “0/1/25” (safe/semi/
full) selector markings, and the latter showing
no evidence of remarking or alteration. Both
the bolt head and bolt carrier are dated “IE”, the
former also numbered “181” and the latter an
original full auto component with no evidence
of welding or alteration. Included with the lot
is the original pattern thin handguard with
checkering and a raised hand stop and a green
canvas Bundeswehr-pattern sling.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, with 95% of the
original matte black finish, showing minor
handling marks on the receiver and furniture.
Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a
National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable
Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau
of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives,
(BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter
44 and 27 CFR part 479. This item was previously
identified as a pre-1986 “limited sales sample”,
but per a reevaluation of the relevant laws in
2024 the BATFE concluded that this designation
was in error, and that the item should be
transferable without restriction.
