Gun, with Accessories - Serial no. 0013, 30-06 cal., 24 inch round bbl., matte gray phosphate finish, metal stock.
Manufactured by Richard William Davis of Salem, Virginia, using a new made sideplate and military surplus
components, this is a fine commercial example of the Browning 1919A6 belt fed machine gun. A variant of the late
World War I developed 1919, the A6 was developed in response to Germany’s MG34 and MG42 machine guns, giving
American troopers a support weapon capable of faster tactical repositioning than a tripod-mounted machine gun. Flip
up blade front and ladder rear sights, with an A4 pattern heat shield installed around the barrel, nomenclature and
address markings on the registered right sideplate, “7,62” marked bolt, checkered pistol grip and detachable buttstock.
Included with the lot is an extra A6 pattern heat shield with swiveling and folding bipod, gauges, and a copy of the
American Gunsmithing Institute DVD technical manual/armorer’s course on the Browning 1919A4.
CONDITION: Excellent as manufacturer finished, with 98% plus matte gray phosphate overall, showing minor wear and
a few small areas of pitting. Some minor spotting present on the stock and extra heat shield. Mechanically excellent.
