Gorgeous Factory Gabriele
Ferraglio Signed and Master
Engraved Flli. Bertuzzi 20
Gauge Round Body Double
Barrel Shotgun - Serial no. 6135,
20 gauge, 30 inch solid rib bbl.,
blue/coin finish, walnut stock.
Brothers Remigio and Elio Bertuzzi
were builders of some of the finest
bespoke guns Italy had to offer for
33 years at their small two man shop in Gardone Val Trompia. The brothers only built guns on a made to order basis,
remaining busy until closing up shop in 2009 with no one to leave the family business to. Luckily, the firm has recently been resurrected by
Paolo Bertuzzi, son of Remigio, under the direction of his father and uncle. This gun is built with blued steel dovetail lump barrels featuring a
single nickel bead sight on the hand filed concave game rib, signed “ Flli BERTUZZI ITALY” on the left tube, 2006 dated Italian proof marks on
the flats, and 3 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The barrels are fitted to the coin finished round body Anson & Deeley type scalloped
boxlock action which displays stunning deep cut broad leafy scroll engraving peppered with floral bouquets and surrounding a vignette game
scene depicting a flushing woodcock underneath a “Flli. BERTUZZI” banner on the underside before spilling onto the toplever, trigger guard,
and both tangs. The engraving is signed “G. Ferraglio” on the right side of the triggerplate for Italian Master Engraver Gabriele Ferraglio. The gun
features a single trigger, right hand rolled trigger guard, and a tang mounted manual safety with gold inlaid “S” indicator. The gun is fitted with a
beautiful highly-figured and multi-point checkered splinter forend with matching engraved coin finished iron and Anson button release along with
a semi-pistol grip stock with blank gold inscription oval and matching engraved coin finished heel and toe plates around the checkered butt. Includes a
Negrini takedown case. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech both proofed and measured at 15.9 mm (.626 inches); choke
constriction .015/.023 inches; minimum wall thickness .029/.029 inches; 1 3/8 inch drop at comb; 2 1/8 inch drop at heel; 15 3/16 inch length of pull; slight cast-off; weight 6 lbs.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue and coin finishes with minor handling evidence and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent. A fantastic
chance to own a lovely Italian double!
Estimate: 20,000 - 30,000
