Spectacular Master Steve Kamyk and George Spring Factory
Engraved and Gold Inlaid Colt Custom Single Action Army Revolver
with Carved Ivory Grips, Case, and Factory Letter - Serial no. S65709A,
45 Long Colt cal., 7 1/2 inch round bbl., royal blue/casehardened/gold
finish, relief carved ivory grips. Manufactured in 2012, with the included factory
letter confirming the revolver’s configuration, including a 7 1/2 inch barrel in .45 caliber, royal
blue finish with a casehardened frame along with gold plated trigger guard and backstrap, carved and
scrimshawed ivory grips, special feature screw-less black powder frame, non-fluted cylinder, extended
grip configuration, along with factory engraving and 24 Karat gold inlays performed through 300 hours
of combined effort by Colt Master Engravers Steve Kamyk and George Spring, when custom made for the
2012 NRA-ILA Gala held at Grant’s Farm in St. Louis, Missouri, on April 13, 2012. Features a fixed rounded
blade front sight (with the center through engraved with the Colt factory “dome”) and top strap notch
rear sights, the one-line Colt address roll-marked on top of the barrel with gold inlaid band at the muzzle
accented with floral scroll engraving, a raised gold inlayed depiction of the Colt factory and office building
on the left side of the barrel, the Colt family crest motto “VINCIT QUI PATITUR” (Latin for “He who perseveres
shall triumph”) flush gold inlaid on the right side of the barrel along with further gold inlaid bands and floral pattern
engraving/gold inlays near the frame, Samuel Colt’s signature flush gold inlaid on the ejector rod housing, gold inlaid floral vine
patterns and bands on the cylinder, floral pattern scroll engraving on the frame with flush gold inlaid borers, a raised gold inlaid
Rampant Colt on the left of the recoil shield, and a raised gold inlaid depiction of a revolver on the loading gate, floral scroll
engraving and gold inlaid bordering on the hammer, along with floral scroll pattern engraving continued on the gold plated
trigger guard and grip strap with a raised serpentine Colt logo at the top of the grip strap. Fitted with a pair of conjoined fleur-
de-lis border carved ivory grips crafted by Paul Persinger of El Paso, Texas, with the Armsmear Crest scrimshawed on the left
side and a depiction of a young Sam Colt, the sailor, carving the first wooden revolver parts on the right side, both performed
by Steve Kamyk. Also included is a shipping box with matching numbered end label, a Colt blue box, and Huey Gun Cases fitted
brown leather transport/presentation case with a Hogdon plaque fitted to the lid, containing ebony handled cleaning rod,
screwdriver, and brush, a brass oiler, and a spare lid plaque.
CONDITION: Excellent plus as extensively factory embellished by Colt Master Engravers Steve Kamyk and George Spring,
retaining 99% original blue, casehardened, and gold finishes with limited handling evidence and crisp, detailed engraving and
inlays. The grips are also excellent with well-defined carvings and highly detailed scrimshaws. Mechanically excellent. The case
is very fine with a few minor storage marks. Overall an eye catching and outstanding display of 21st century Colt craftsmanship!
