Outstanding World War I U.S.
Colt Model 1911 Semi-Automatic
Pistol - Serial no. 311509, 45 ACP cal.,
5 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut
grips. Manufactured in 1918, with the serial number falling into
the range of non-consecutively numbered shipments, as listed on
page 520 of “U.S. Military Automatic Pistols 1894-1920” by Meadows. Features fixed oval blade front and
square-notch rear sights, a correct blued barrel with “P” and “H” marked on top of the chamber, a checkered slide stop,
thumb safety, magazine release, and wide spur hammer, a short grip safety, smooth long trigger, and straight mainspring
housing with a lanyard loop on the base. The correct 1918 production era slide bears the two-line, two-block patent dates
and manufacturer address on the left side with an uncircled Rampant Colt in between, along with model and U.S. Army
nomenclature on the right side and “H” marked at the top of the hammer recess. The left side of the frame bears the U.S.
property marking and “eagle head/S14” inspection mark, with the serial number on the right side. Fitted with a pair of “double-diamond” checkered
walnut grips and an unmarked two-tone magazine. Includes a modern Kraft style box.
CONDITION: Excellent plus overall, retaining 98% plus original dark blue finish with some minor handling marks, minor cycling wear, along with crisp
markings and grip checkering. Mechanically excellent. Overall an outstanding
example of a World War I era 1918 production U.S. Colt Model 1911 semi-
automatic pistol!

Very Fine World War I Era U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1911 Semi-Automatic Pistol - Serial no. 80267, 45 ACP
cal., 5 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. Manufactured in 1915, one of 25,747 Model 1911 pistols manufactured
by the U.S. Springfield Armory. Features fixed oval-blade front and notch rear sights, replacement blued barrel with
“S” marked on the recoil lug, checkered slide stop, thumb safety, magazine release, and wide spur hammer, short grip
safety, smooth long trigger, and straight mainspring housing with a lanyard loop on the base. The slide bears the three-
line Colt patent dates and two-line U.S. Springfield Armory markings on the left with “ordnance bomb” behind the slide
serrations, along with model and U.S. Army nomenclature on the right side with “eagle seal” crest behind the chamber.
The left side of the frame bears the U.S. property marking and an “ordnance bomb”, with the serial number on the right
side. Fitted with a pair of double-diamond checkered walnut grips and a correct two-tone blued Springfield Armory
pattern magazine with a rolled side lanyard loop baseplate. Includes a modern Kraft pattern shipping box.
CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 80% plus original blue finish with some light edge wear, a few minor specs of
freckling/spotting, light cycling wear, thinning on the grip straps with smooth grey and brown patinas, and clear
markings. The grips are also very fine with scattered dings and some light handling wear in the well-defined
checkering. Mechanically excellent.
