LOT 3427
Very Scarce .30-06 Springfield Converted Swiss K31 Single-Shot Straight Pull Bolt Action Target Rifle
Reportedly Produced for The Swiss Shooting Club of Mexico - Serial no. P269589, 30-06 Springfield cal., 26 inch round bbl., blue finish,
walnut stock. Receiver manufactured c. 1971. While not individually documented, this rifle is identical in configuration to a group of 20 special K31 straight
pull bolt action rifles which were ordered for the Swiss Shooting Club of Mexico (Schweizer Schuetzen Mexico) in the 1970s, chambered for the U.S. .30-06 Springfield
cartridge instead of the standard 7.5x55 mm Swiss chambering, due to a Mexican government prohibition on the importation of the Swiss cartridge. The rifles for the order were
converted from existing unissued service rifles by Hammerli Lenzburg, with new barrels and a “P” prefix added to the existing serial number (indicating private ownership). Due to the extra 8
mm length of the .30-06 cartridge the standard 7.5 mm Swiss magazines supplied with the rifles could not be loaded with the new chambering, limiting the rifles to single shot only. Features standard winged
fixed blade front and tangent rear sights, Swiss “cross in shield” crest on top of the chamber, “89 30-06” marked barrel, and bright “P” prefix added in front of the serial number on the left side of the receiver. Matching
serial numbers on the bolt body and magazine. Fitted with a smooth oiled walnut handguard and stock. Includes a leather sling, steel sling connection hook, and a brass muzzle cover.
CONDITION: Excellent as factory converted, retaining 98% plus of original arsenal deep blue finish with some light edge wear and limited spotting on the buttplate, some limited minor handling marks, and attractive plum
coloration on the rear sight base. The stock is exceptionally fine with some minor handling and compression marks along with attractive grain coloration. Mechanically excellent.
Estimate: 3,000 - 4,000
