Harrington & Richardson Model 50 Reising Submachine Gun, Class III/NFA C&R Fully Transferable Machine Gun, with Extra Magazine - Serial no. 111346, 45 ACP cal., 11 inch round bbl., matte gray finish, walnut stock. A closed-bolt, blowback-operated submachine gun, the Reising Model 50 saw action with the U.S. Marines in the Pacific as a substitute for the M1 Thompson, though they found their best success as defensive weapons for war-essential industries and as patrol carbines for American police forces. Blade front and elevation adjustable peep rear sights, with a flash hider/muzzle brake, cooling fins on the “PH” marked barrel, three-line Worcester address near the ejection port, and three-position selector/safety on the right side. “L.P.D. #5” has been added to the left side of the receiver, likely the rack/inventory number of the Lyons, Illinois police department. Smooth pistol grip stock with a cocking lever on the underside and a lightly ribbed buttplate. An extra magazine is included; both mags are the restricted capacity, single-stack pattern, but the magazine well will accept full capacity magazines. CONDITION: Fine, with 50% of the faded original matte gray phosphate finish, with a brown patina on the receiver and flash hider, bright wear on the underside of the barrel, and mild spotting and handling marks overall. Reinforcing bolts have been added to the stock, with evidence of a mended internal crack near the tip, otherwise good, with light external scuffs and oxidization on the buttplate. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a “Curios or Relic” as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479. Estimate: 5,500 - 8,500
LOT 453
Colt M203 40mm Single Shot Grenade Launcher, Class III/NFA Destructive Device, with Knight’s Armament Stock Adapter, M16A1/A2 Rifle Grenadier Heat Shield, Quadrant Sight, and 12 Gauge Insert - Serial no. A203915, 40 mm , 12 inch round bbl., matte black phosphate finish, metal stock. Developed and introduced in the late 1960s, the M203 was designed to act as an underbarrel attachment for a properly configured M16 rifle, allowing platoon-level grenadiers to provide support fire while still having a rifle ready and in-hand for self-defense and engaging targets where a grenade wouldn’t be appropriate. Constructed chiefly from aluminum, the M203 has a forward-sliding rifled barrel with plastic grip sleeve, a safety switch inside the trigger guard, and a self-cocking single action mechanism. The maker’s marks are on the left side of the frame, with the release catch for the barrel on the upper left. This example comes with a Knight’s Armament stock rig, which includes a telescoping buttstock (maximum LOP about 13 1/2 inches), iron sights, triple rail mounting points, checkered pistol grip and a pair of quick-detach sling swivels. Also included is an aluminum sub-caliber insert that permits the firing of 12 gauge shells in the launcher, M16A1/A2 rifle length M203 grenadier heat shield with attached ladder sight, an extra M203 ladder sight, M203 quadrant sight (absent mounting screw) for mounting on a M16A1/A2 rifle carry handle, small hardware, and an olive drab green canvas web rifle sling. CONDITION: Excellent, with 95% of the original matte black phosphate finish, showing some light wear and handling marks overall. The stock adapter is very good, with mild scuffs and dings. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This Destructive Device is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479, National Firearms Act. Estimate: 2,250 - 3,500
LOT 454
Varo M79 “Blooper” Shoulder Fired Grenade Launcher, Class III/NFA Destructive Device - Serial no. 199733, 40 mm , 14 inch round bbl., matte gray finish, hardwood stock. Manufactured by Varo, this 40mm grenade launcher is nearly an exact copy of the M79 “blooper” infantry grenade launcher of Vietnam War fame. Filling the gap between the hand-thrown grenade and a full mortar, the M79 gave a balance between the agility of the former and the striking power of the latter that was extremely useful in the sort of extremely fluid, high-speed clashes that could happen in the field. Blade front and folding ladder rear sights with fixed “battle notch” mounted to the barrel, automatic tang safety, swiveling winter triggerguard, canvas web sling and a “NOSHOC” brand recoil pad. CONDITION: Excellent, with 95% plus matte gray finish, showing some light handling marks overall. The stock is equally excellent.
