The gun features blued steel barrels with a single nickel bead sight on the smooth concave solid rib which is signed “FLLI. RIZZINI MAGNO V.T.” and shows a flourish of scroll engraving at the base, single thin bands of engraving at either breech, 2004 dated Italian proofs, and 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The coin finished sidelock action displays near full coverage floral scroll engraving against a blackened background and bright polished pins. The scrollwork pours off of the action and cascades over the toplever, triggerguard, and both tangs covering them all and adding to the luxurious allure of the gun. The gun is signed on the triggerplate “A. Contessa” for the renowned Italian Master Engraver Albino Contessa who has graced this gun with his work. The gun features a double trigger and tang mounted automatic safety with gold inlaid “S” in the safe position. Exceptional, exhibition quality, multi-point checkered splinter forend with coin finished engraved fittings including the Anson button release, and straight grip stock with a checkered
heel. Included with the gun is an oak & leather takedown case with factory label and data sheet on the interior lid and a set of cleaning tools. Barrel and stock measurements: bore diameter nine inches from the breech both proofed at 13.9mm (.547 inches) and measured .550/.551 inches; choke constrictions .009/.017 inches; minimum wall thickness .040/.040 inches; 1 3/8 inch drop at comb; 2 1/4 inch drop at heel; 15 1/16 inch length of pull; cast-off; weight 5 lbs. 7 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue and coin finishes with minor handling evidence and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. The case is excellent. Mechanically excellent. A truly exceptional masterpiece of Italian gunmaking.
