Engraved and Silver Inlaid Clarkson London Brass Barreled Flintlock Blunderbuss - NSN, 16 bore cal., 14 3/8 inch round bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. This c. 1800 blunderbuss is marked with the maker name “CLARKSON/LONDON” on the lock. London proofs on the left of the barrel near the breech. The bore is estimated and measures approximately 1 1/8 inches at the flared muzzle. Floral and border engraving on the barrel tang, lock, trigger guard with acorn finial, and buttplate. The barrel is brass, with an iron lock, hammer, barrel tang and trigger, and
German silver furniture. The stock has teardrop flats, a fancy martial sideplate and wrist escutcheon with inscribed initials that appear to read “JJ”, and silver wire inlays on top of the wrist around the barrel tang. CONDITION: Very good with bright brass and German silver fittings, gray patina with some dark mild pitting on the iron, and clear markings in the metal. The refinished stock is also
very good with a replacement spliced section at the front, scattered light scratches and dents, some light surface crazing and a few discreet filled in repairs at the edges. Mechanically fine. Estimate: 2,250 - 3,750

British Brass Barreled Flintlock Blunderbuss by Bleiberg -
NSN, 6 bore cal., 16 inch round bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. This c. 1800 blunderbuss is marked with the maker name “BLEIBERG” on the barrel and lock. London proofs on the barrel near the breech. The bore is estimated and measures approximately 1 1/2 inches at the flared muzzle. Faint floral and border engraving on the barrel, lock, hammer and trigger guard. The barrel and furniture are brass, with an iron lock, hammer, barrel tang and trigger. The stock has teardrop flats. CONDITION: Good with mostly bright polished surfaces on the brass and some scattered patches of surface oxidation on the iron. The refinished stock is fair with a replacement spliced section at the front, numerous scattered dents and scratches, and some cracks and chips. Mechanically fine. Estimate: 2,500 - 3,750

Historic Engraved British J. Parr Flintlock Blunderbuss Pistol with Brass Lock and Barrel Inscribed to Captain J.M. Niell of the H.M.S.
Result - NSN, 65 cal., 7 3/4 inch round bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. This pistol is signed with maker name “J./Parr” on the lock, likely John Parr who is listed as an active gunmaker out of Liverpool between 1765-1800. Birmingham proofs on the left of
the barrel at the breech, with a large brass wrist escutcheon period inscribed “Capt J.M. NIELL/H.M.S. Result”. No further information has been located on this individual at
 the current time. There is a later ship found called the HMS Result that was active between 1893-1967, although the timeframe of this pistol suggests that is not the ship that matches the inscription, and that ship was likely named after an earlier one. Nearly all of the components are brass which is more resistant to corrosion and was popular with British seamen. Iron trigger, hammer and some small parts. Walnut stock and horn tipped walnut ramrod. Features floral and border engraving on most of the components. CONDITION: Fine, with attractive bright golden patina on the brass, gray and darkened brown patina on the iron, and sharp engraving. The refinished stock is very good with a repaired split in the wrist showing an open crack, numerous scattered dents and scratches, and a chipped absent section at the front right edge. Mechanically fine. Estimate: 3,500 - 5,500

Bennett Brass Barrel Flintlock “Blunderbuss” Pistol with Under-Barrel Snap Bayonet - NSN, 50 cal., 9 7/8 inch part octagon bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. Manufactured c. 1780-1800. The bore flares to .75 caliber at the muzzle and is around .50 caliber in the main bore. The barrel has London proof marks on the upper left flat, “ROYAL EXCHANGE LONDON” on top, some light engraving, the ramrod fitted along the right, and a folding snap bayonet underneath. The bayonet locks via a latch in the forend released using the small trigger ahead of the trigger guard. The brass lock is signed “BENNETT” at center and has some martial engraving and a frizzen spring roller. The furniture is brass with light engraving. CONDITION: Very good with aged patina on the brass, dark brown patina on most of the iron, some mild pitting, and general mild overall wear. Aside from the repaired cracks above the nose and tail of the lock, the stock is also very good and has mild wear, including scrapes and dings. The bayonet mechanism has some minor repairs and needs some adjustments to get it to lock when released. The lock is mechanically fine. Estimate: 1,800 - 2,750
